A new semester will soon begin at RETS College. Good luck to all those that is starting a new era of their education there. I Have spoken to few of the students that just finished and things seemed like they are somewhat better. The DON has only had a 15 week run at the school, so things Im sure will still be worked out over the next few semesters. The science part of the program is still by far one of the best in my opinion.

My class worked our butts off to obtain the education we received. RETS was obviously the base of it all, however, If it wasn't for the fact of being self motivated and working hard, we would'nt have been sucessful. RETS has changed some nursing administration recently, and from what I have heard, there are really good things being portrayed about the new D.O.N. Maybe some the deceitfullness, manipulation and incompetence might cease and the school can get back to the traditional ways and values of why I signed up there. If they could secure good clinical sites, especially re-secure the pediatric site (Childrens Hospital), they would be almost a place I could reccomend again. Again, speak not only to a few people, but get a broad spectrum of the sense of thoughts and feelings about the school before making a decision to go or not to go. As always, good luck with your endeavors.
  3. Hello all There seems to be a similar shake ups at other area colleges. The Centerville College has had the same type of turmoil more than a year now. Fortunately, the major problems seem to have just been recognized with a new director of the program. Many, many things were being destructed on a daily basis, such as losing big contracts for clinicals, constantly keeping students in a daily uproar over a few instructors and their deceitfullness. My classmates and I completed a program on March 26, 2009 and many still have not received their ATT. this is partially, due to the High volume of applications received by the state, however, the College was reluctant to send the applications out in a timely and prudent manner. Good luck to all. As in the previous posting, research your school, ask current and former students from a diverse group of people to get an account for the schools reputation.

What was some of the factors for not attending RETS College for RN? Was Clark State similary close to program such as length, cost, etc.
  5. Fortunately, NO. However, I am losing many of my fellow classmates from term 4. I have a friend that is with your group that is going into term 3. I have filled her in on about everything that has happened to us. However, I would have to call her everyday just to keep her updated on the issues that have arisen. I wish you luck!!!!
  6. Wait till you get to Term III and then IV. All Chaos will hit, and you will be re-thinking of why you went back. Only 7 students passed term 3. Need to talk to some students ahead of you.
  7. First of all, make sure you read the school's handbook about entrance requirements, etc. to assure their isn't something in it about your particular situation. Secondly, I would contact (via email for a record), whoever is directly above the person that is creating all the interference with you getting accepted. If nothing in the schools handbook on acceptance requirements, you could use that as a tool as well as the OBN offenses list. The Nursing Board application asks if you have committed a violent crime, esp in relation to patient care. The states is rather picky about even the most slightest past records, however, I know a few that have been accepted with appeals to the board for worse. Good Luck,
  8. Hello, Have you searched the OBN disciplinary section where it lists the offenses that are not permittable to obtain a license. otherwise, it could be a long fight with the Dean or whoever that is involved in the case. Sorry,

Looking for nursing school (LPN or ADN) in Dayton, OHIO or area: Take the very things that you may have a strong belief in and expect as well as demand that from a school/college of your choice. Some major things that should precede the school/college should include, but not limited to dependability, honesty, encouragement, competent, confidence, courteous, trusting, being valued, satisfying, rewarding, distinctive, (so you get the idea). My point is, talk to former students from a broad time perspective to get an accurate account for the school, administrators and especially the staff that will directly effect your education goals during your scholastic needs.

If you are planning on attending an accelerated school for nursing, make sure you speak to other students that have attended the program(s) you are considering before you make that final leap. Also, MAKE SURE you get an idea of the program(s) from several different people and at different times of enrollment. Things change rather quickly from semester to semester, so that is the only way to get an accurate accountability of the program, staff and school. Obviously, students will have many different accounts of the program(s) of interest. You may also check out the NCSBN or the OBN for verification of their status. Good luck
  11. Just do research and if possible speak to people who have attended the various schools you are considering. However, RETS went from a Technical school to a accredited College (RETS College), most credits from courses should transfer. At least I am hoping so. Good luck!
  12. RETS College of Nursing in Centerville is an option, which i believe someone already mentioned. There is generally no waiting list for the LPN to RN program, however, you will pay approximately 25K for the the 4 semester program. The next program will start in April and generally every 4 months thereafter. Best of Luck. O

    Rets Anyone?
  14. Good luck to all of you starting this week. Sometimes things can change rapidly with schedules, classes, etc. This apparently seems to be true with majority of nursing schools such as this. The biggest issues seem to be with clinical sites. Remember there are so many new schools out there that are competing for clinical sites. Things will normally work out, so don't easily excel to an agravated state. Your first nursing instructors (Lisa "ding", Kathy, Chitsi and a few others), you meet will give you a lifetime of rememberance of them. They are truely an asset of the Institution. Put an extra effort into excelling the first term, it will pay off later during the next 2 semesters. Especially the nutrition class, which will surface over and over throughout the program. (vitamins, foods, etc towards the nursing profession). Take care, Have a good semester.
  15. Good luck with all. If not Financial Aid, there is always Loans Diane and I have developed a nice rapport with each other. Randall
