Do nurses support physician assisted suicide?
Good point. I vote we call it "End My Suffering Now Or I Will Come Back And Haunt You For The Rest Of Your Life!" (EMSOIWCBAHYFTROYL), or OFF-ME for short. You're in the wrong profession. You should have been a lawyer! Now I'm certain you should have been a lawyer. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen, does it? Even PCA's are rigged.

I have no idea what you just said. You should have been a high school teacher.

No one is disrespecting either stance. However, the issue at hand here is the "quality of life" vs. the "quantity of life." As I see it, those that do NOT support PAS are taking the high ground, using religion and morality as a foundation and the "do no harm" pledge of the medical professional as a step stool upon that foundation. But are we really "doing no harm" by letting terminal patients suffer while they linger toward the inescapable end? I think a large amount of you who oppose PAS are doing so on religious grounds, and are using the "do no harm" stance as a convenient excuse. My opinion only, folks.

please! let's take you from your home, stuff you in a room, surrounded by (dying) people you don't know and wait until you die. the only one that is spared the physical, psychological and spiritual agony here is the family members who walk out the front door, get in their cars and drive to their nice, safe, comfortable homes.

You're twelve? You seem much older. Very mature for your age! Actually, here in NorCal, we all call it either Frisco or SF. Gidadahere! Manhattan is an island? Who'athunkit.

I would just calmly tell the DON that if Perfect Nurse gets in your way one more time, the facility will have one more patient to take care of. And I wholly agree with Suz4, if Perfect Nurse is an LVN/LPN, "...she has no authority to delegate to you, or to take over your patient." Period. Make that point to the DON as well. Stiff upper lip! Good Luck. Let us know how things transpire.

nurse to patient ratio
Whenever you spot that Lil' Devil avatar...run! No, no. What I meant to say was whenever that Lil' Devil shows up, take ANYTHING and everything he says with a very large grain of salt. [...and anything SpaceNurse says following that Devil. He's a bad, bad influence.] Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

which journal to get?
I'm partial to Big Bass Sport Fisherman, myself. Not too overly technical, but you will have to have the terminology down. Having a name like Red or Bubba doesn't hurt, either. In fact, I believe it's a requirement now...
