This is for Nurse 101 that is the reason why CNAs act like they do. nurse like yourself. We as nurses are supposed to be a TEAM if you spoke to me like that "no lip about it" you would certainly be taking care of your pts all by yourself You are the one that needs to wake up and smell the coffee!!! I was once a CNA and had a snotty nurse tell me "it was beneath her to get the pt something to eat" Well guess what she pulled that team of 7 pts on a cardiac unit all by herself after that little remark. I reported her and was moved to another team and no other CNA wanted to work with her. She never again was rude or snotty to another CNA. So please be considerate of your CNA, they are your eyes and ears and your right hand And stop whining about how "no one helps you do your job Have a nice day !!

Okay 1hotRN everyone has just focused on what you did wrong and yes dont leave meds on beside table now lets focus on what your question was I have had this happen to me also where pt are feel they should not ask the NURSE for anything "it is the CNA's job" and I have actually been told that. So the way I handled it was : I explained to the pt that I was happy to do things for her/him that is my job also. I would have taken the CNA aside and explained that I am not that kind of NURSE that leaves the JOB for the CNA to do. I am happy to get the pt water, blankets, turn, change, walk, etc and if you ever need help please ask me, I will not tell you "that is not my job" But just make sure that that is your intention and do it You have not won the trust or respect of your CNA's yet so just work on it it worked for me I LOVE MY CNA'S!!!!!!

Hey There Something that will put your license under review PEOPLE WHO LIE!!! As nurse we really need to watch our behinds I have been in a situation where nurses lied because they were lazy and burned out. Came upon a nurse who decided to commit a SLOW CODE I really didnt know they existed AND THEY DONT that is the way these nurses deal with someone who they think should live a certain way. Anyway I questioned the ethics of these nurses to the DON and she told me to keep my mouth shut. Well I didnt I asked the SBofN and off we were, all of a sudden I was making all sorts of mistakes and people were complaining, being I worked in a behavioral facility with vunerable adults they could not bring these residents to court and this place of course believes it residents (dont ask) Long story short DON goes somewhere else, ADON carries on and I well... I am in counseling for it all just to make sure I was not the mean cruel nurse they made me out to be.

Whats the matter Nurses Cant Stand up for themselves? If the drs want to be nasty well as long as the nuses stay profes. then please dont ever be on-call and be nasty thank you

Well first of all and for most keep it professional and if continues and you have to call him for orders well 3 am calling for supp. or tylenol and then calling back 15 min later to confirm and then 30 to 45 min later to make sure works all the time Yes I had the same problem with a Dr and well needless to say he is the nicest person he even remembers us for Nurses Week we all got white roses and gift certificates for dinner at a very nice place Good luck:lol2:

I would just find another place to work and stay clear of this place dont call back anymore this is poor management techniques and you do not want to work in a place like this how are they going to treat you if you were to accept the position and when you need them in a tough spot they will not be there for you Can you imagin how he/she was with the pts when they were nurses on the floor Run run and keep running Keep looking and good luck

Stormikris I think you took my thread wrong I am appling for a job in correctional nursing I have an interview tomorrow My problem was in LTC (Long Term Care) and it was the Admin/managers and I sorry to say that as for Admin it is probably "Same **** different place" it is not the patients. Anyway I am sorry you took my thread wrong I will let you know in the future how it goes and maybe you might change your mind

Hi Looking for worst experiences ... Well mine was not with the patients it was with the management the patients were great I just remember they are out of their environment and they are sick So tell me how do I look at the management?? I worked at a LTC behavioral facility through the county Long story short the management DON and ADON were just a BEHAVIORAL as the residents in fact they were worse. I had to seek counseling to get over the whole deal (yes it was that bad) and I was told "when in that situation always look at management/administration as one of your patients. Well Now I am finally able to look for a job after thinking hard about leaving the profession had to stop school also but am returning So I am taking this advice with me JUST LOOK AT ADMIN/MANAG. AS ONE OF YOUR PATIENS/RESIDENTS, AND DONT REACT TO THEIR ACTIONS. Good luck in the future and keep smiling I find it helps

Hi I know I should not do this but here it goes anyway whatever U do do not I repeat do not go to work for Posada del Sol nursing facility the facility is a bahavioral facility where all the residents have control the admin allows it and management has no clue which end is up the nurses there are all burnt out RNs and who do not trust any of there LPNs who end up doing all the work with little to no appreciation Oh Im sorry stale dry cake with rock hard icing which sat in the DON office because she felt we didnt deserve it for Nurses wk Yes they are desperate for nurses the new RNs who do come to work there are given to floors to work with 28 pt on each side Dont do it !!!!!!!!! Hi VegRN Do you have any advice for me, opinions, sugg. I am going to apply to a co. CMS on monday I have exp. in hospital floor nursing, floating to and from Er and my recent stint was in a behavioral nursing home (yes i know they are all behavioal) this was the county so... that shoud explain it all ha ha I am excited and am hoping it will be different, I have read the other replys no family(thank god) and no customer serv. cards (jeeze what are those anyway lets poke the nurse because she pissed us off card or what anyway I got into nursing to try and help people, hoping they would be greatfull (ha ha ha ha ...) well I have found out different, I am finding people think that when they are in the hospital they are in the Hilton with a burger King attached..(maid service and have it your way right now) Sorry for the rant Do You have any advice or anything thing Thanks swtnrs

Hi I am an LPN yes I was in the same situation as you... only with Narcs and suppositories (long story) pt was so gorked out she didnt remember when she was taking it and well so on and so forth Meeting yes, written statement yes, watch your reaction to what the admin has to say to you in fact dont react.. mention the "practicing w/o a license as well as prescribing with out a license, because who is she to say "she needs all the meds she can get right now" those meds dont work that way and she does not understand that dee dee dee.. (sorry) Watch your reaction they could possibley blame it on you and I dont mean to scare you but yes worry about your license make sure you are clear I have gone thru just this thing and I thought my Lic was okay then if things dont go in the manner in which they should email me and we can chat later State Board so on and so forth Good luck SwtNrs

Hi there I am an LPN who also was a CNA working my way up to my BSN you know the LPN to BSN jump so I thank you for your appreciation of US... sounds like the nrs I used to work with same attutitude and she had been a nurse for 15 yrs. Please dont tell me you are in Tucson, az. I believe also that that is the reason hospitals dont really have LPNs at least here is that the Rns dont want to deal with us... I believe that there are some LPNs that could out nurse some Rns no offense but..... We are supposed to be working as a team not against each other :balloons: anyway thanks much love and appreciation
