  1. I am also in the process of transferring my license from NM to CO. The first step is to go to nursys.com and release your information to Colorado. Then print and fill out the application and mail in. I sent mine in about 2 weeks ago so still waiting to hear something. Hope it doesn't take too long!!
  2. I'll be at the new facility being built in Lone Tree - Ortho/Spine. I'll orient at the main campus until the facility is complete. What area are you in?
  3. Great, thanks! I'm just reviewing all things in the general sense but I think I'll be ok!
  4. Just wondering if anyone has taken the pharmacology test for UCH recently? I have a tentative position pending I pass the test. I was given an outline on what to study, but it is extremely vague listing topics such as "knowledge of medication side effects" and "knowledge of medication contraindications". I'm trying not to get too involved in all the fine details, so any guidance on what exactly I should review would be helpful. I am a BSN RN with 8 years acute care experience. Thanks!!
  5. I am moving to the Denver area in a couple of weeks. I started applying for positions back in early July when we found out my husband was transferring there. I have my BSN and 8 years acute care experience, and I also had a hard time finding a job! I have a tentative position with UCH pending I pass the employee physical and pharmacology test. I'm not sure if Colorado is a "nurse heavy" state, or if my difficulty was applying from out of state. Had I been in the area, I would have called nurse recruiters directly and attacked it in person. You may give that a try. Good luck!
  6. I also was offended by the comments made about nurses. Right after the intern said "Did you just call me a nurse?'" , my hubby looked at me and said, "Holy S##t, did you hear what she just said?". So, thanks for the email link, I just sent them my thoughts on the episode. :angryfire
  7. My facility has just implemented a "2 mg Dilaudid max dose" policy d/t several pts that have coded after receiving 4 mg doses. Are there other facilities that have made changes to the dosing of Dilauded d/t respiratory depression and codes? RNs are also being educated to not push the drug faster than 1mg/min; I think most of us do this anyway but I guess sometimes people get in a hurry and don't actually go that slow. I'm just a little curious as to whether this is an issue at other facilities as well as mine. Thanks.
  8. I watched the Oprah show yesterday, and I was moved to tears. I also watched the concert last night for World AIDS Day. You can also go to http://www.46664.com to make donations, or to buy 46664 merchandise. (46664 is the prisoner number that Nelson Mandela was issued during his incarceration). The proceeds from the merchandise sales also go to help the people of Africa. I ordered a coffee mug and a T-shirt. I really can't afford much right now, I won't graduate until May, but I figure any amount will be helpful.
