  1. I have pt with SBO, his only meds are phenergan, morphine sulfate IV PRN, and D5 1/2NS & 20mEq KCL IV 1000ml. Pt.'s K level is normal so I was wondering if this maybe was an IVPB for morphine. If I dont know then I get sent home in the morning, so any help would be great!!!
  2. Please if anyone can help, I have to do a care map and we have only done a couple in class and I have a hard time getting started. My pt. is 94, her medical diagnosis is renal insufficiency & hyponatremia her labs show a UA w/ small blood, leuk.-trace, RBC-3-5, bact. few, her EKG showed AFIB, chest x-ray- mild component of CHF, her B/P-97/61 w/hypertensive meds shes also on lasix. please any help or guidance would be helpful!!
  3. Can someone please help me??? Tomorrow we have to do pt teaching in class and I chose how to use crutches. My problem is how do I write my instructions?? We have to demonstrate our teaching and turn in our instructions. Not sure how to get started.
  4. I have to do patient teaching for my fundamentals class and I have decided to do it on IBS(figured it would be easy since i have it) anyways this is the first we have done so if someone could help me get started that would be great. I know where to find the info I just dont know how to formulate it. We have to get in front of the class and either teach them or a fellow student. THANKS
  5. Just thought that I would put my thoughts in. I am only in my 7th week but my fundamentals teacher said that it is sterile while in the body but as it comes out it is considered not sterile because of touching the skin. Then again everyone says different!!
  6. I am in my 6th week of practical nursing and I have to say that I find this subject to be the hardest because its all critical thinking and not just black and white answers. Our test are based on NCLEX so there are normally two answers that could be right, but you have to pick the BEST one. I dont have questions straight from the test but here are a few examples. Sorry they are lengthy. 1. For a pt. in the acute care facility, the nurse identifies several interventions. The statement that best communicates the activity of the nurse is: A) assist with ROM exercises, B) take the pts. vital signs, C) refer the pt. to physical therapist, D) provide 30ml of water with the nasogastric tube feedings q4h. ANSWER=D 2. In determining one of the following pts. on the medical unit to visit first, the nurse selects the pt. with which one of the following diagnoses? A) imbalanced nutrition: less than body requirements, B) ineffective tissue perfussion, C) deficient knowledge regarding home care resources, D) impaired physical mobility ANSWER=B I hope that this helps. GOOD LUCK!!!
  7. My PN course begins in august, but we were given our A&P and Medical Terminology books in late May. They are self study courses, although we can do them the first 14 weeks of school. I am finding it hard to stay on track and retain the info im learning since were not in class to discuss. Any helpfull tips???
  8. Thank You For The Links And Suggestions. I Think That I Am Just Overwhelmed With All Of This New Material.
  9. Hi, I Was Just Wondering If Anyone Could Give Some Advice For Absorbing All Of This New Info! I Start School August 6, But Since It Is Only A 10 1\2 Month Course They Suggest You Start A&p And Med Term Early So You Are Not Overwhelmed. Too Late!! So Any Help Would Be Great.
