  1. I had a 96% chance of passing on the first try and I did. I do have to warn though the NCLEX is alot harder that the comp exam.
  2. thank you so much. They already told me to be there 15-20 minutes early in HR because they had some paperwork for me then they would take me to the nursing manager. Oh I soooooo hope I get this job. I figured I would be there at least a half of an hour early so that I can get my directions. I didn't do a lot of clinical in this hospital. But I did do 3 rotations in ortho and this is for the ortho floor so I hope this will be to my advantage. Anywho thanks again for the tips I appreciate it!
  3. I have an interview tomorrow at 10 at the largest hopital in the area. 603+ beds. I have an interview with the nurse manager of the ortho floor. I'm really nervous, any pointers? I am going to buy a suit tonight and get a haircut into a cute layered bob. still need some pointers though!!
  4. well according to the cps worker i will never be able to work as a nurse. would have been nice if they would have told me that 4 years ago:cry:
  5. I agree that something is fishy. the problem with anyone calling, i don't know many people in this area and the ones I do know are my inlaws and they didn't know anything about it. I have a copy of the background check that they done on me being sent to me so I can see what the heck is going on. I looked up on the laws and it said that you are only disqualified if you are convicted of felony child abuse or neglect. I will be looking for a lawyer on monday. The only thing they did was investigate. Then they sent me a paper saying it was unfounded. I didn't know that they couldn't release that information if you weren't convicted. Good to know. Thanks guys you have been a huge help to me. :loveya:
  6. doesn't really matter now, I lost my job. see my other post "I lost my job"
  7. Thank you! I am looking into the laws and trying to find someone through legal aid. I read that if the charges were unfounded they have to expunge them from your record in 6 years. Well this was 9 years ago. So something fishy is going on. I just don't understand that if they received this report on the 11th. then why did they let me work up until this last wednesday. I was so sad when they called, I was really getting attached to the residents. I don't think I ever cried so much in my life. It just really makes me mad that they would think that I would hurt anyone. I'm just not that way. I went into nursing to help people, not hurt them.
  8. Thats what my mom said irn86. She told me that maybe I wasn't ment to work in that facility. I was hired on for mollen immunization clinics as they said they really need nurses in washington state. So I will do that and hopefully something better will come along. Just gotta keep moving forward. and I have already contacted the people who do the background checks to see exactally what is on that report. You think all of this would have happened when I started nursing school, not after I graduated and got my license (just got it in the mail a few days ago!) Oh well I will do what I can to clear my name.
  9. I was never arrested. I have never been arrested for anything. ever!
  10. I was never charged with anything. when the daycare lost my daughter the police officer I found in my neighborhood was a jerk to me from the moment I tried talking to him. he treated my like I was the criminal. I had to get up against the back of his car and he wouldn't let me say anything. He took my daughter, wouldn't let me see her, or talk to her. I got her back 3 days later because a manditory 72 hour hearing came back with no evidence and that was that. Now on the background check it says I am guilty of child neglect and abuse, I never had to go to court, I was never arrested, Nothing. How could this say I was found guilty of these charges when I was never tried. I just don't understand this. I have passed every background check until now. also the place I worked at had my background check since the 11th and they just let me go yesterday after working me for a week straight. doesn't make any sense to me.
  11. they told me even if I had it expunged from my record that they woulnd't rehire me. It really breaks my heart because I was getting attached to some of the residents. I had one elderly gentleman that followed me every where I went. Will this hender me from getting a job in a hospital in the future. they gave me a number to call about it. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and see why this doesn't show up on a FBI criminal check but shows up on a DSHS background check. I'm so sad right now:sniff:
  12. I need some advice. about 10 years ago I had my daughter at daycare and they lost her. I found her and the cops said I was neglecting my child and called CPS and they took my daughter for 3 days. they brought her back because they didn't have any evidence. I started working in a LTC facility a week ago and they called my this morning and said they had to let me go because of child abuse. I was never charged with anything. and now my heart is broken because they act like i'm going to abuse some little elderly person. I would never hurt anyone and have been crying all day because I know that I woulnd't hurt anyone. I don't know what to do. Will I ever be able to have a nursing job with this thing? It doesn't show up on my criminal back ground check, I've only had one ticket in my whole life and that is it. any advice as to how I can get this off of my record? any thing would be appreciated.
  13. first off, congradualations on such an awsome job. Second, confidence will come as you learn. I remember just starting the program and having little to no confidence as I am sure we all did. But look at us now we are RN's. You will do GREAT. It just takes time. Heck I just started in a LTC facility and even though I know that once I learn I will be awsome as you will, I feel a little out of sorts. I think we all feel that way with our very first "real" nursing job. Don't beat yourself up, your not alone. You will be a wonderful nurse, it just takes time. Good luck!!!!!!!
  14. I worked my first night as an RN tonight in a LTC facility. I really wanted to work in a hospital but there was no such luck with that right now the way the job market is. I can truely say that I enjoyed myself. The best moment of the night was when I gave on little gal her night time meds and when I went to shut off her light she told me she loved me. :redbeathe I was stunned into a moment of silence then without hesitation I told her I loved her too and she giggled a little and when right to sleep. That is when I figured out that I am in the most rewarding profession there is. Just felt like sharing that with someone. thanks for listening.
  15. I have to agree with semi, I too used the saunders disc. I would sit down every day and do anywhere from 100-300 question. I also used the book med-surg success. It is basically a book with nothing but NCLEX questions. it also tells the rationals and what to look for in each question that would help with coming up with the right answer. Good luck, I know you can do it!!!! woo hoo!
  16. The LTC facility I applied to I did online. I was searching differnt nursing job web sites and thought I would appy just on a fluke and to my suprise they hired me on the spot. wasn't my dream job but it will do for now.
  17. Have you though about applying somewhere other than a hospital, I too had the same problem. I applied at a really nice LTC center and I am making more than then I would in the hospitals. I will eventually work in a hospital but they want either a BSN or 1-3 years experience. I plan on working there while completing my BSN and gaining experience.
  18. I start my new job tomorrow swing shift oh I am so excited!!!!!
  19. I finally got activated!!!!! I am now officially an RN!!! I took the job and can't wait to start. They were really nice waiting for me to get activated. (DOH lost my transcripts that were sent in july) but anywho Thanks for all the words of wisdom and advice. I really think that I'm going to enjoy working there!!!
  20. I received a email from a recruiter at Cristus in san antonio tx. I live in washington state and there is no way I'm moving to texas. you might try there!
  21. I went for my orientation today. The facility that I am working at has been completely remodeled. Its a very nice facility. I am actually looking forward to working here. I was hired on as a RN supervisor. Not bad for a new graduate nurse with an adn. Everyone I met there were very nice and welcoming. Its more of a rehabilitation facility than a nursing home. So maybe I will get to use alot of the skilles that I learned. You even punch into the time clock using your finger print. Pretty fancy!!
  22. Yes I asked for a few days to think it over. When I went for my interview they didn't even interview me they just offered me the job. After thinking for a day I called them back and told them that I would accept the offer and they had me do the background check and drug test. I think what put me off was the pay was 19.25 and hour and the hopitals offer 23.63 an hour to start but when I weighed the pros and cons for example the hopitals were only offering part time jobs(24 hours/week) where as the LTC facility was offering fulltime. So when I did the math I found that I was actually going to make more at the LTC facility than at a hospital. Plus I love working with the elderly and have always seemed to have a nack for taking care of them. I am actually excited to be offered an opprotunity to work in this field. I have orientation tomorrow at 10 am and can't wait to finally start my nursing career!!!!
  23. If you have microsoft office 2007 there is a templet for an RN in the resume section. That is the one that I used! and it worked like a charm!!:typing
  24. Problem is that online it says my license is pending and it won't say active until they get my transcripts. It would have been nice if they could have droped me a line telling me that they didn't have them. I could have taken care of this a few weeks ago!
  25. I am so irritated. I have been waiting for the doh to activate my RN license. I took the NCLEX 3 weeks ago and passed. I have got 2 jobs waiting on me to get my license. One is at a LTC facility and on with Mollen Immunizations. I called the DOH on friday and they just put me through to a woman who wasn't at her desk and never called me back. I called again today and they said that they don't have my transcripts. I then called the college and they said that they mailed my transcripts to the DOH 7/7. They are going to mail them again. I hope this doesn't cause me to lose my position at the LTC. Its a RN supervisor position and I am really excited for getting it. Sorry just had to vent! I wished they would have told me friday that they didn't have my transcripts then I could have taken care of it and they would have had them today. With jobs as scarce as they are around here I can't afford to lose this one because they lost my transcripts. Okay got that off of my chest!! thanks for listening!
