  1. Anesthesia Careplans

Hello Everyone, I was just checking to see if anyone knows of a book that specifically contains anesthesia careplans? If not, has anyone developed any care plans they would like to share? I appreciate your help. Thanks, Kathy, SRNA
  2. Just curious to see how many of you have had "problems" at your clinical sites, whether clinical or just personality conflicts, whether real or perceived by others. How do you handle it and is your tongue as black and blue as mine? Do you get told ...
  3. All SRNA's: Have you bitten your tongues in half?

Thanks Loisane for your entry. It is all very true. Unfortunately, not taking the verbal abuse would just make everything worse, so I will just have to suck it up and get over it. The stress is unbelieveable and it should be considering the respon...
  4. need opinions please

I would not bother retaking the class considering your GPA is so high anyway. Besides, they look at A LOT more than just your gpa. good luck!
  5. Anesthesia Careplans

  6. To All Srna's

Of course working at a big hospital is best because you can get more experience with all the technology available at such facilities. But, obviously that opportunity is not available to everyone. I was told that the experience is a great asset, but...
  7. Decisions, Decisions....

ADN all the way!!! First, you will definitely hate commuting that amount of time everyday. I am not sure what your family situation is, but if you have a family, I would definitely not do the commute. Any extra time you have not in school, you will...

  9. Anyone down around the Souteast?

Matt- Another school you might like to check out is University of South Carolina. The program awards a degree in Masters of Nurse Anesthesia, which means less "nursing" courses. The program is actually based in the medical school. There is NO comp...
  10. re: applying for schools

Sam- I haven't begun classes yet. I start in January, so that remains to be seen. I am sure I will have to study harder than others in some areas, but hopefully everything will go well.
  11. re: applying for schools

Sam, Actually, confident was definitely not the case. I had 5 years ED experience and one year exp. as a clinical coordinator. I didn't think I had an ice cube's chance in hell of being accepted after talking to some of the people at the interview....
  12. re: applying for schools

Hi, I only applied to one school, one time, with no ICU experience, and got in, so it can be done. GOOD LUCK!
  13. Why a CRNA??

The CHALLENGE- the AUTONOMY- the ability to take care of patients at a much higher level- (still be able to do the things I enjoyed about nursing like teaching, interacting with patients and thier families, etc.) AND OF COURSE, THE COMPENSATION.
  14. good news party people.

Fence- I have sent you several pm's and in them I gave you some information- Just thought I would let you know! KK
  15. Roland- I really do not think you would get the "boot" at age sixty as a CRNA. Keep in mind there is a huge nursing shortage and that includes CRNA's and it is predicted to worsen over the next twenty years drastically. Therefore, they will allow ...
  16. When did you know?

It's really too bad you feel there is such a stigma about males being nurses-that's ridiculous! You shouldn't let what other people think keep you from achieving the career you want-who knows-you may even like it. Some of the best NURSES I know are...
  17. When did you know?

Well, I didn't know I wanted to be a CRNA at the beginning of my nursing career. I went straight into working in an ED upon graduating from nursing school and LOVED it. In fact, I if I was to do staff nursing, that is the only place I can imagine m...
  18. How much CHEMISTRY did you take as an undergrad?

Roland, I took two general chemistry courses before I ever decided to be a nurse and that's all I took. It really depends on the program you are applying to. Some programs don't require organic chemistry. kk

  21. Acceptance to CRNA School

Jeff, I can't speak for all programs, but I can tell you about USC's general applicant pool for January 2003- There were 154 qualified applicants and of those 92 were interviewed and 31 were accepted. At Duke, I believe they will interview 30 and a...
  22. ADVICE NEEDED...Start school in Jan.

Hey AL bug Thanks for the info, I really hope apprehension is normal because I definitely have quite a bit of it! The first classes in the program are A&P, basics of anesthesia, and another one. So, I jump right into it and quite frankly-I'm ne...
  23. What do you think (if anything) MDA's will do...

Tenesma- I think you have made some very valid points and agree with what you say for the most part. However, I wonder if it possible that some of you have misinterpreted what Kevin had to say about not trusting some MDA's or CRNA's to "watering hi...
  24. Interview Questions Asked to me.....

Many people have inquired about what types of things are asked in interviews, so I thought I would share what was asked in mine. The interview questions were: Tell us how your clinical experience will help you in anesthesia. What roles do you have ...
  25. Shortage of CRNA's??

Obviously, there is a significant shortage of nurses and that shortage is predicted to worsen rapidly over the next twenty years. According to the US Department of Health and Human Services studies, it is estimated that in the year 2020 there will b...
