i cannot comprehend what this surgeon was thinking! what do you think would happen if this was a surgical nurse and s/he "stepped out" for a minute to run to the bank? what do you think his final punishment will be...a fine and a spanking? you think ...

good question. i've said it before, i'll risk saying it again, only the boards know why they made this so. logic? i dunno. flo, as a cna, are you comfortable performing those procedures that may be invassive that your boards say you can do?

pretty much like bob said. unfortunatley, we are a busy er and don't have the time to monitor up to four hours for adverse side effects.

i beleive cna's can "collect samples" after being straight cath'd in my state

ya know...i wonder if the hospital should share blame in his misguided descretion. was it hospital staff that couldn't wait until after the surgery to deliver this check? who's the driver? i'm sure the family will sue!s_bsn

i assume case management is having a helluva time placing him somewhere, that's why you and the other poor nurses are still taking care of him. i say refuse the assignment. he tried to assault you once, that's reason enough. take an immuno-compromise...

at my facility nurses are notorious for putting "d/i", that is "dry and intact" under the "color/temp" section. so that would read color = dry, temp = intact?. ha! s_bsn
