i started traveling after 1 year of experience (MS). I had 2 days hospital orientation and 3 days of orientation on the floor, but during the middle of my first shift on the floor, I asked to have my own assignment...nursing is nursing where ever you go...so basically i just had to learn their floor policies and procedures, computer system, and where the supplies were located. It's been a great experience for me so far....I love it! good luck to you :)

i'm starting my first travel assigment and i didn't get an interview until 2 weeks before my start date. Actually, I had 3 interviews the same day...I made a quick decision and took an offer the next day because i still had some paperwork to complete before i started on the job (ie. drug test, physician statement, and a colorblind exam). thanks for the reply...very helpful. i got a call from my recuiter and she wanted me to call to set up a telephone interview with a hospital. so i left a message for the nurse manager to contact me...now i wait :) thanks again, elmay

i am a new traveler and my recruiter said she sent out my info to area hospitals. My anticipated start date is april 30th, so far no phone calls. My recruiter says hospitals won't call until it gets closer to my start date. how long should one wait for a telephone interview? :uhoh21:

Thanks for the reply. My husband will be in Iraq so I'm moving to Westminster, CO near his family. I am looking for hospitals in the north denver or denver metro area. I am planning on sticking with med/surg, pref ortho/neuro (that's where i worked most at my last job). I'd like to work for a hospital that is familiar with travellers...I would hate to have an unwelcoming experience on my first assignment. any ideas or advice?

I am moving to colorado april 2007 for a year (my husband is in the military). I have been a med/surg nurse for over a year and would like to travel within the state while i'm there. I am really nervous about doing this but excited at the same time. I'm looking for different experiences and to learn new skills. Any advice on the best hospitals to work? please share your experiences with me. thanks :)
