  1. Oh my stars!! So they received a rejection letter by mistake???
  2. nskoog, Yikes... are you serious??? Did these applicants have an interview?
  3. Hello everyone! I thought the final interviews were conducted on April 11th... Does this mean we would be hearing back from the program possibly in May since the committee is still interviewing?? Yikes! This waiting period is pretty tough! :uhoh21:
  4. :welcome: Congratulations on your interview! A good source to look at for possible questions is the following thread.. allnurses.com Nursing for Nurses / Nursing Student Forums / General Nursing Student Discussion Can we make this a sticky? Interview questions Good luck on your interview! :)
  5. I know what you mean... The waiting is the hardest!! I wonder if the selection committee inteviewed 120 applicants....or more?? Because today is the last day of interviews.. Does anyone else have any updates or the latest scoop?? :)
  6. Hi Asherah! I contacted the admissions coordinator and she that the selection committee will conduct the final interviews tomorrow, so most likely we will be notified the end of this month. According to the CSUF website, the graduate tuition is $1551 (6.1 or more units) per semester. Graduate 0 to 6 units: $900 6.1 or more units: $1,551 The program is a total of 3 years including some summer sessions so total cost is approximately $14,000. But I'm sure there are other costs to consider, for instance, parking, books, and other student fees, etc. Hope this helps. :)
  7. How did everyone else's interview go? Do you know if they are still conducting interviews? :)
  8. I had my interview last thursday, March 22nd. It was both group and one-on-one interview. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but still a bit nerve wrecking. The majority of the time was the group interview and one-on-one was about less than 10 minutes. The director said that we will be notified at the end of April... another long wait... it's a little frustrating not knowing... but hanging in there. :uhoh21:
  9. Hi Asherah! At the info session, the director said that the program is a total of 3 years. The first 1.5 years is dedicated for preparation for the NCLEX. So after the first 1.5 years the students will take the exam. The remaining 1.5 years is dedicated to the master's portion of the program which is a direct pathway to the MSN in Nursing Administration/Community Public Health certificate. So overall, it's a total of 36 months. As I could recall she said that the students would be able to do a direct pathway to the Women's health NP or Nurse Midwife. Hope this helps! :nuke:
  10. Thanks Asherah! Yep, I guess the competitive applicant pools are inevitable to us, but all we can hope for is that we will end up somewhere. I'll definitely keep you posted. :)
  11. Hi Asherah! I emailed the CSUF EL-MSN coordinator yesterday and she said that they will be interviewing approximately 175 applicants for 60-65 spots. So now it all depends on how many applicants RSVP, declined, etc. It seems that the odds are so slim for nursing schools. But at least an interview helps in looking at the person as a whole rather than just numbers. :) CSUF EL-MSN program looks like a good program. I attended their info session and was pretty impressed in how they have the curriculum planned out and their campus will have simulated rooms for clinical practice. Also, it's a straight pathway to the MSN in Nursing Administration/Community Public Health certificate. The director also mentioned that one might be able to go straight into their Women's Health NP/Midwife program. Pretty cool options.
  12. I totally know what you mean... we have to definitely keep on moving forward and hope for the best. That's a lesson I've learned as well is to apply to more schools, but I'm sure you will be a more competitive candidate when you apply next year. You'll be just fine... Thanks and I wish you the best! :nuke:
  13. Yep, I'm taking a one of the prereq class with them. I felt so embarassed being the one who didn't get the email. I'm too afraid to confirm with the UCLA office and hear the bad news. I have an interview with Cal State Fullerton in couple of weeks so we'll see how that goes... it's my last resort. If that doesn't fall through, I'm not sure I'll reapply next year... How about you, any back-up plans??
  14. Thanks for the update. I'm soo bummed myself. Two of my classmates got the email. So does this mean that's it and we should expect a rejection letter in the mail?
  15. Hi there! I have a question... After the interview sessions, how soon do we find out whether we have been accepted or not? Do any of you know how the interview sessions will be carried out? Thanks!
  16. Nope, nada... I'm getting very anxious now... :uhoh21:
  17. WHOOAA!! That was fast! Congratulations StressedGirl!
  18. Hi Asherah, Actually, my husband is finishing up his master's at UCLA so we live at university village. I graduated last June with a BA in Sociology from Cal Poly Pomona. Thanks for inquiring. UCLA would ideal because my husband is there, but we'll see what the future holds.
  19. Thanks for emailing Shelli. Okay, so late March.... Well it's better than early April. At least we know that we would be hearing from them soon, a couple of weeks. It'll fly by, almost there. Thanks for the update!
  20. Thanks Asherah! I've contacted Shelli whether we will be receiving the admissions decision letter through email or by mail. She said that we will be notified by mail of the faculty committee's decision in late March/early. I know it's wishful thinking, but hopefully we all get a unexpected pleasant surprise sooner than we think. :) I spoke to one of the doctoral students in the UCLA SON and she said that there were 1100 applicants for the BSN program at UCLA for 50 spots. So we are at a much better position than those applying for undergrad there. We all have to stay strong and encouraged through this stressful process. I've gotta say that this forum has been encouraging through this process for me.
  21. Hi fellow UCLA MECN applicants! I've applied to the UCLA MECN program as well. This wait till late March/early April is killing me!!! I wonder if we would hear from UCLA any sooner??
  22. I've received an interview date via email also for March 22nd at 12:30pm - 4pm!! Congrats to you all! We've made it to the next stage!
