  1. Oh yes, yes I got in. It is not an easy program. Sue
  2. Hi, Yes, I do think you'll get in to one campus or another. Some people go to other schools and don't take the spot. This is an expensive program and there are no new grad programs in SF now, so unless the economy gets better, jobs are scarce. Sue
  3. Hey, I went through SMC ABSN program, I like the program but when I graduated, hospitals were starting to clamp down on hiring new grads ( great timing ) and I'm still looking. I think by 2010, hopefully it should be doing better. Hang in there!!
  4. Sorry you did not get the job. The fact that you speak another language is a bonus. Honestly-I don't think hospitals are going to be hiring new grads for 2009 either with the economy the way it is. I don't know what will happen to the class of 2008 since the most recent grads get the break. I know how you feel, but all that volunteering will be recognized at another interview. I'm thinking of going down south but it's starting to get impacted every where. But we have kids so it's hard to relocate. I would have never thought that I wuld be jobless. Hard reality. Sue
  5. HI, Read about your interview with Kaiser? Any news? Katkids:mad::wink2:
  6. Hi, I applied and interviewed for that job and didn't make the cut. Kaiser has already reposted this position 2 times. You'd think with all the nurses looking for jobs or transfers they'd find a few by now. Does anyone know what's going on with them?
  7. I know what you mean: I called a recruiter and he makes it sound like it's my fault that I'm not keeping up my skills. Then he finally says, " well, your case is not unique." Everyone wants experience even in the training programs. Right now I'm working with a vaccination company, but that doesn't count as experience. I don't know how we can get the experience if no one will give us the chance. It scares me that the schools are putting out even more nurses in this downward economy. But everyone says, don't worry, you'll get a job. Sue
  8. Studentnurse, Don't get discouraged because some of us aren't having luck because 1/2 of our class got jobs with no problem. My problem is my mind freezes in interviews. So, it's something I got to work on. I don't know of any training programs either. Men seem to not have a problem either because they are underrepresented. Good Luck!!
  9. Hi Again, I'm not picky, I just want to get my foot in the door. There are just not as many training programs now and when they do open, they get hundreds of applicants. I'm doing flu shot clinics to get started but that's seasonal. I just get nervous as there is a never ending supply of us new grads and limited supply of jobs. I agree that the schools were blowing sunshine everywhere as to jobs for us. It's all about the money(private nursing schools). hanbo
  10. Hi all, I've been searching for months. There is so much competition. I've interviewed 8 times and they say I did an excellent job but they prefer to hire someone who had the preceptorship in that area. Well, I had Med Surg and there's not alot out there. It's soooo frustrating that even new grad spots need prior experience. I don't see how to make myself more competitive. I'm licenced, taken ACLS and PALS. Are there super interviewing skills seminars? Can't really relocate because kids are in school. Any ideas? It's really sad. I'm almost ready to hang it up. Recruiters aren't helpful either. Now I see why in our previous class, some didn't get jobs until after a year. hanbo
  11. Hi Jess, Thanks for the info. Been doing some of my own. Last year they went thru their entire wait list. I'm suppose to wait it out til April 1st, before reapplying. Some of the staff will accept a second NET and some won't. So they are going to have to come to some sort standards. Luckily, I am finished with all the prereqs. So I'm just stewing and waiting.... :-) Sue
  12. Hi Fellow Mommy, Yes, SF is my 1st choice. I got a 79 on the NET. I read that 85 is a shoo in. At my level now, there are only so many hoops I can jump thru given all I have to do. Last year, I read # 19 on the waitlist got in. April does seem awfully close and I'm expected to have my darn gallbladder taken out. My kid and I also seem to have this never ending cold/flu thing going on. Feb just isn't such a good month so far. Mentally, I'm spent. Thank you very much for your tips. Will call and harrass them soon. The thought of resubmitting is a task I do not relish. Thank you;)
  13. Hi everybody, anybody, I'm new here. I'm a mom of a 2.5 year old. I am currently going for the ABSN program at SM. I just found out I'm 16 on the wait list at SF. Do I have any hope of getting in? Can I take the NET again to get a better score? Does anyone get in after 2nd or 3rd tries? Thanks for any helps I can get... Sue
