Validated Fall Risk Assessments
This seems to be a popular problem right now. I work on pediatric psych unit and need to come up with a more realistic tool but can't seem to find one. I posted a week or so on this topic and got a reply from someone saying they have one but they are unsure if it will apply. If I hear anything more from them I will reply on this thread also. Good Luck!

Hi 42gameover, I would really appreciate your information. I'm going to be working on creating a fall risk for our program and I'm not real sure where to start.

Fall assessment on Psych patient
I work on a peds psych unit and I'm looking for a fall assessment to use as it is mandatory hospital wide. The problem is all our kids would be rated as a high fall risk based on the medical floors fall assessment. Does anyone use a fall assessment that is specific to psych---adult or child related?

Rio Salado Nursing
Hey, Just be aware that you are pretty much on your own with Rio. I graduated over a year ago now and I know they went through major hiring so maybe it is better. I think everyone has complaints about every program ---you just have to get through it. I never heard anyone say that a program prepared them for the real world of nursing. You will do fine with Rio if you have time to study and have some medical experience or have contacts in the field to answer your questions. I was prepared for the boards, passed with 75 questions however I was not prepared for the real world of nursing--which only comes with time! Best of Luck--You will do great I'm sure.

Psych or OR ?
Hello all, I'm a new nurse of 10 months and I'm currently working part-time childs psych and part-time general peds at a childrens hospital. I had a lot of psych experience prior to nursing school and didn't want to give it up but really wanted to be a medical nurse. I have found that they mix very will and I'm frequently assigned the medical kids in psych and the psych kids on the medical floor. There are days though when I feel I would be futher along in my medical experience if I would have concentrated there coming out of school----However management is very supportive and I'm lucky. I would encourage anyone to pursue a mix! Good luck all!

Kaplan Srategies, does it work? Help!!
I also felt like the strategies didn't work at times. However when I took my boards I used Kaplan strategies when I had no idea of the answer and passed with 75 questions! I give all the credit to Kaplan for helping me pass my boards. I also used Saunders but felt that the Kaplan questions were closer to the questions I had on the boards. Hang in there ----You will pass also! Good Luck!

kaplan question trainer/ nclex mar 15th help
I did the kaplan class and the question trainers also. I don't think I would have passed without Kaplan---practice with the question trainers and you will do fine. I passed with 75 questions---even though I was convinced I had failed. Kaplan really works!!
