  1. Just a tip for those of you with daughters, based on my experience.... I think making them wait on getting a tattoo is DEFINITELY the right thing to do. But if they are planning to just wait until they are out of the house and over 18 before getting one, please just ask them to consider one last thing before deciding WHERE to get it... They should think long and hard about getting it anywhere that would be exposed while wearing a wedding dress!! I got what I would consider a very tasteful tattoo on my shoulder blade during my freshman year of college. I knew it would be exposed when wearing certain kinds of clothes, but of course, I KNEW I wouldn't care about that! I was such a bad-ass after all! :chuckle Well, lo and behold, I turn into Martha Stewart the minute I have an engagement ring on my finger and I was SO DISAPPOINTED that all of the wedding dresses that I really wanted to wear completely exposed my tattoo (which wasn't acceptable to me). So I ended up buying a dress that wasn't my first choice. This continues to happen every time I dress up for something, all the dresses I like the most show my tattoo. Not THAT big of a deal, but something you have to deal with for the rest of your life! So, please just ask your daughters to consider this last thing before getting a tattoo on their upper body or arms! ~ Satine
  2. I have had the same problem for 5 or more years now. My mom has it as well! Maybe it's inherited???? I have visual and auditory hallucinations, as well as feeling someone/something on the bed. In the visual ones, I think my eyes are partly open (because I see whatever is right in front of me), but I'm not able to move a muscle. If I happen to be facing my open bedroom door, I will see people peak around the door and watch me, make faces at me, and other terrifying sights! The worst is when I'm laying on my side and I feel someone sit down behind me on the bed, lean over and start whispering in my ear. I'm not able to move or make a sound and it is extremely scary! I also have ones where it sounds like there are 10 people in the next room, talking/yelling/crashing furniture around. My mother has the same thing and is able to bring herself out of it by trying to scream. That doesn't work for me, so I have to wait it out. The only thing that seems to work is to try to realize what is going on, attempt to ignore it and relax, and try to go back to sleep. It's been happening so much that I'm actually starting to be able to do that. I've heard that this may be caused by a chemical that is released when you are sleeping that paralyzes your muscles (so you don't act out your dreams). And then sometimes people start to wake up, but the chemical doesn't get deactivated correctly. I'll have to see what I can find out about it on the web. They would probably want to make me and my mom their lab rats! :) Glad to know we aren't alone! I HAD to reply to this post! I've been reading this board for the last 6 months, but have never posted until now. Glad there was a topic I could add something too. FYI - I'm a pre-nursing student, returning to school to COMPLETELY change career directions. I've learned so much about what it is really like to be a nurse on this board. I LOVE IT and I'm SO ADDICTED! ~ Satine ---------------------------- The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love, and be loved in return.
