I was not accepted, but I am okay with it. I think the CRNA dream has passed. COVID has given me a lot of perspective. I want to enjoy my family, my free time, get my pilot's license, play the piano again. Not go into debt, 3 years of hell, stressful situations (what if I can't get the intubation and no one else is around? I pull the cric kit? I don't want that stress) to help people that sometimes don't want to be helped. The cons outweigh the pros for me at this point. Best of luck to everyone.

I received my rejection letter on Sept 5th last year via mail.

Hey there 3rd time applicant to NU here. I interviewed the first year but they were worried about my GPA. Retook some courses, built a rapport with the director, attended open houses and even shadowed a class of the physiology professor who was so hard on my GPA. Then I reapplied only to find out most of the faculty left so I did not get an interview. I was have been in contact with the asst director and he said "I look forward to your application and interview" so I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I reallllly want this! Interview is all personal questions and via Zoom this year. You'll get a link to the critical thinking test which is a little weird but you can't study for it. I am going to defer 1 year and give CRNA one more try so that opens up one spot in the AGACNP program!

AGACNP- with an intensivist specialty. I figured if I couldn't do CRNA, then throwing in A-lines, central lines, and intubating as an ICU NP would still make me happy. I feel so grateful to have been accepted and I hate taking a spot that someone else could have. But the thought of ANOTHER year at the bedside if I don't get into CRNA school just kills my soul LOL.

I really lost my passion and motivation for it after that last rejection. I worked so hard to build a rapport with the faculty and they had a mass exodus. But this new asst director seems really good and I think I have a good case for admission. I just don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. Plus I figured Fall at Vandy would really discipline me and maybe give me a head start on my potential classmates, academically speaking.

Same. Mine was only $4200 I think. I'm not sure I can justify taking out $150k in loans to help with living expenses. I actually gave up on CRNA school after 12 rejections over about 4 years. However, one program director said he was impressed with my dedication and wanted to interview me this August for a December start. I'm not sure if I should start Vandy and drop out if I get in, or just not start and hope for CRNA this Fall.

I can't remember exactly but there is a link somewhere on the site to an exit survey from the students and it has those numbers (how many surveys were sent and how many were filled out).

Yes. You are nationally accredited by the NBCRNA so you can practice in all 50 states. I have heard that it is a bit more difficult to find a job and that the students don't get a ton of experience with regional or blocks. Just depends on where you want to work.

Yes, they will generally not consider it complete until all transcripts are in. However, I missed the priority deadline just waiting for 1 transcript by snail mail and they were kind enough to push it through. Does anyone know if you are able to change your clinical placement request for the distance option? I may be moving back home.

Vanderbilt has one with distance learning available! You can still apply but the priority deadline was Oct 15th.

Hey all! Nice to meet you. I have been applying for CRNA school for the past ~3 years with no luck (2 interviews but have retaken classes and boosted my GPA as much as possible). I've somewhat lost my drive for it, so have decided to pursue the MSN here at Vandy in hopes of still becoming an advanced practice provider. I've submitted my app but still waiting for a snail mail transcript from one school, so it appears I've missed the early deadline. I'm an ED RN but spent a couple years in the ICU for CRNA applications. I love the ED as a nurse, but want to be doing hands-on procedures. Therefore I applied for the AGACNP route. Does anyone know how many spots each specialty offers? And what about you? How did you decide which specialty to pursue?

Mine was with the program director and another faculty (I knew choosing one of the 3 days on the second option was going to be a different/ special panel). I felt okay until the last question about Pathophys... I wasn't sure how much detail I should go into but I definitely didn't blow that out of the water. I also know they looked down on my decision to return to the ED after a few years of ICU. So I'll be surprised if I get in. Who was on your panel?

Same. I screwed up in undergrad and have been taking classes for 3 years now to make up for it. I'm not sure I still have the drive I used to when I started ?? Yes, I've received the same generic letter saying all accepted applicants have had a science in the past XYZ months, etc. I was hoping that 3 apps in a row would count for something but it's hard to compete with 4.0 GPAs and years of ICU experience.

Will rejections also be via email or snail mail as in past years?

During my interview they said give it 2 to three weeks after the last interview conducted so I'm thinking end of the month

She also said she found it difficult to learn the schematics of an anesthesia machine online without seeing and touching the one in their sim lab.

One girl lost 20+ lbs because she said she gets tired when she eats, so she stopped eating to be able to stay up and study?. Otherwise they like the program as much as you can like being tortured for 3 years straight haha. The other student starting rotations said the new director is trying to limit travel and keep you in one rotation as much as possible. Not sure if this is d/t COVID or just his approach. For me, the interview was all personal- they don't care what you know because they can teach it to you. However, with new faculty I'd imagine this has changed substantially, otherwise I thought I'd have been invited back this year...???
