New grad, now in recovery, who will hire?
Hello everyone, My name is Cheryl and I am an addict. I have been battling an opiate addiction for the past 5 1/2 yrs thinking (of course) I could "control" it (I think you know what im talking about.) Obviously my way didnt work and I knew I needed help. I received my RN license in Aug 2008 and started work immediately w/ my employer whom I was previously working for as a tech (for a year). My obsession was still in full force and I began diverting a month later. I was employed for a total of 5 months when I finally turned myself in...I was SCREAMING for help. The next day I went to a rehab for impaired professionals where I found out so much about myself that I had never known or had forgotten. 5 wks later I had a conference call with my employer who notified me that I was terminated. I know now that there is a plan for me, I just am not aware of it yet. So my question is...What are the job possibilities for a new grad w/ minimal experience AND in recovery. It seems that everyone is looking for some experience, which I am lacking. Help or suggestions? Thanks family. Cheryl

GA Nursing Roll Call
Hello, I'm Cheryl and I'm a nursing student @ ATC in Gwinnett. I enjoy reading all of the "experienced" posts. They are encouraging and really help us "greenies" out. Keep up the great work.

Looking for a job in the Atlanta area?
GPC unfortunately does have a bad rep. If ADN is the way you want to go try Athens Technical college. They have a satellite branch that is located in Gwinnett (an avg of 10 students in the Gwinnett class {*BONUS*}.) On a personal note, the externships I applied for stated that the reason they thought I was the nurse for them was partly because I attended ATC. ATC produces quality nurses.

I want to find a Nursing Tutor!
I live in Gwinnett county and I am searching for a tutoring agency that aids nursing students. If anyone should happen to know of such a blessing PLEASE RESPOND . I'm doing my "extracurricular reading" (haha), however I feel I would benefit even more if I had some one-on-one help. Would love to ask a peer, but most are concerned with their studies (which I do not blame them). :behindpc:

Athens Technical College
I am a second year nursing student attending ATC. So far I have had a great experience with the instructors. They dont want you to fail, however they do not want incompetancy in their graduates. They remind us all the time how they are "normal people" and not to be intimidated. They want to help us, we just have to ask. I chose this school after debating it with GPC. They are a whole lot more organized and I would feel better telling my future employer that I am a graduate of ATC than GPC.
