  1. Same here too..nothing yet. I'm crossing my fingers for Ohlone College - only 20 students/semester and over ~350 applicants! Oh my! For CSUStan, I read that we didn't have to pay for the enrollment fee unless we got accepted. So, I would wait until you get word but when are they sending word? Hmmm..maybe I should send them a quick msg too. Good luck to us!!
  2. Hey Mamie! Any news yet? Nothing here yet...fingers crossed.
  3. Wow! I just looked and that was a complicated application too. boo hoo! Oh, well. There is still hope! :-) Enjoy your weekend.
  4. Hi Maymie, Same here :-( I got the letter today. I'm still waiting on 5 more schools. I will pray for us!!
  5. Hi Maymie! I have only heard great things about SRJC -- let's hope we both get in :) Have you heard much about the Mendocino campus?
  6. Me too! I applied to 5 programs so far. Let's hope I get into one of them. I'm hoping to get into CSU Stan b/c the cost of living is cheap. I'm actually from this area, so I'm hoping I get in. Good luck to us both! Maybe we'll see each other in the fall :)
  7. Hi Thalia, I read your post. Are you in the SRJC ADN program?? How are you liking it? Do you already have your Bachelors in a different field? I applied for Fall2010 to SRJC and I'm hoping to get in. How are the instructors? How are your clinicals? Are you enjoying the program? Thanks in advance. Hope school is treating you well!
  8. Hi Beggar, I just read your old thread. A little late, but I'm curious to know how you like/liked the program? How are your clinicals? What is the typical day for a nursing student? Did you receive your CNA cert. before starting the program? What would you suggest I do to increase my chances of getting into the program? GPA? Volunteer experience? Grades? What do they look for in an ideal candidate? The 2010 cohort has already begun and the next cohort starts in Jan 2012 -- I'm hoping to apply if I don't get in else where. That's 2 years from now. I better start working on my States I hope you enjoyed the program. Take Care!
  9. Hi Maymie, I was asking, where can I find the chancellor's raw cut equation? The website I was given by a counselor did not find the link. Thanks anyways. Congrats on starting the application process! I applied to 4 other nursing programs. Which programs besides CSU Stan and Medocino College did you apply to? Good luck to us both! :)
  10. Hello! Does anyone know where I can find the admissions cut score website? The website I have is http://www.cccco.edu/ccco/esed but it's not working? I'm wondering if I have the correct website?? hmmm..
  11. I can't believe someone would spend time spell checking my post. You must have some time on your hands. Well thank you for the spell check! But no thank you for the discouragement --
  12. haha! I was actually the "one" who began this post. Pretty funny. Yes, and thank you kcmom for backing me up...this was due to a long night of studying...working 40 hrs/week, taking 3 night classes, and a case of TOO MUCH caffeine! Pretty funny looking back on this now.
  13. Thanks. Were you in the ELMSN-FNP program or Acc. BSN program?
  14. Thank you for all your advice. I am too waiting to hear from SMU ELSMN-FNP (Sacramento Campus). I'm currently taking Patho (UCLA extension), but I was a bit worried taking it now --feeling that I might forget most of the info. before the start of the program (if I get in). After reading your post about taking patho & pharm beforehand, I'm glad I decided to take it now. I've heard such great things about SMU's instructors and campus. I actually went to visit and met w/ another FNP student and she had only positive things to say about SMU. I'm very anxious and nervous, but very excited. Thank you for your post! And good luck in the program! :)
  15. it's about 100K excluding rent, books, etc.
  16. hello! Glad i found some people who are in the waiting game. Just turned in my app. last week...and anxiously waiting for results. I'm glad the app. process is over with, but the waiting game is killin' me. Good luck to us all!
  17. Hello all... anyone else anxiously awaiting a response from SMU's ELMSN-FNP program? I just fedexed my application along w/ recs and transcripts last week. I hope everyone is well and good luck!
  18. Well, what about their FNP program? Have you heard students complaining about that program. It's a 3 year committment and a lot, i mean, a lot of money. However, I've heard SMC has a great reputation and anything is better than the RN program I was once in. Too many distractions, no support for the students, and a high instructor turn over rate. Anyways, have you heard of complaints from FNP students? Thanks!
  19. Congrats on making your first step to become a FNP. I also want to become a FNP. Don't let your grades discourage from achieving your dreams. As for admissions, no one really knows how students get accepted. My friend got into the Oakland campus with zero volunteer experience, but decent GPA and she entered when the NET was not that important. I suggest going to talk to the admissions counselor. She is very nice and she even sat down with me to figure out my GPA in all my pre-requisites too. I also have BS and she was able to help determine which Chem classes accounted to their program. I had one year of chemistry and one year of ogranic chemistry. (I think they just take the best) out of those classes, but you'll have to double check on that. Good luck to you!
  20. I just took the NET last Saturday in Oakland. It wasn't so bad, but I was sooo nervous for some reason. I wanted to do really well, but I don't know...we'll see. The math portion wasn't that bad, but I didn't have enough time for the reading portion. I thought there were only 30 questions for 30 minutes, but it was actually 35 questions! So, the last 5 questions, I had to just guess bc I was running low on time (I wasn't the only one, the student next to me did the same thing) We'll just have to wait and see. How's everything else going for everyone? How's everything coming along? I have all my rec letters in place, I'm workong on my personal statement still, and getting ready for JULY 1st. Does anyone know of an alum I can talk/speak to about the Sacramento program? I would like to know/hear what I need to get ready/be prepared for.
  21. I've heard about this...We are just in a really bad state right now. Everyone is having a difficult time finding jobs. I know that Kaiser recommends nurses to have 2+ years experience before hiring. There are always many different places you can work to get your foot in the door so to speak. During school, you'll be placed in diff. hospitals & clinicals..I would recommend doing an EXCELLENT job where ever you are placed, and hopefully that'll score you a job after graduation. Nothing is certain nowadays..but all we can do is look on the bright side of things. There are many other nursing schools (waaaay cheaper) if you don't want to spend all the money at SMC. To be honest, it really depends on you and what your long term goals are. My goal is to become an FNP and work with underserved communities. So, I'm still going for it. I take the NET in Oakland this Saturday. Wish me luck! Good luck on whatever you decide!
  22. Hi mirasoph! Welcome to the forum! This place is great isn't it? :wink2: Awesome to hear that you'll be applying to Sac's FNP program. I will be too! I'm excited and nervous. It's good to hear someone's interested in the same program as me. I hope we can keep in touch thru the admissions process. :) Anyways, as for your question. I've heard different stories. My friend got into the Oakland-SMC program. She had zero volunteer experience, but a heart :redbeathe of gold. I've heard ppl say it was their interview or it was their personal statement. No one really knows...but I'll keep my fingers crossed for the both of us. How's everything going so far?
  23. You're so lucky it's over and done with. I'll be taking it 4/18 and I'm still a little anxious all the while. Any other insight/advice??? Thanks! Good luck on the results! :) Will you be apply to the acc BSN? Or ELMSN-FNP?
