  1. Hey Emyilin, I'm actually starting Vanderbilt's master's entry program this fall and I'm also specializing in the primary care pediatric np speciality. I was hoping to move back to Arizona for finish up the 2nd year... do you think thats too far away to travel back and forth every month? Also, did they help you find a preceptor? I know the first year is going to be really intense... do you have any recommendations of what I can do over the summer to prepare myself?! Thanks!
  2. Maybe try calling? I already found out about both Vanderbilt and Seattle (got rejected).... and Vanderbilt's letter was just a small buisness sized envelope. Good luck!!!
  3. Maybe you should call and ask? The Vanderbilt letter was just ina buisness sized envelope. I also applied to Seattle but already found out I rejected... but its ok! Maybe you gave them the wrong address or something?! At least you haven't heard that you've been rejected either?! :) Good luck!!!
  4. Is there anyone out there who lives in Nashville now and can give me an idea of how soon to start looking for apartments and where is a good/ safe place to live near Vanderbilt?! Any help would be great! :) Also, do you know if Vanderbilt has any sort of roommate finder?! Thanks!!!
  5. Congrats!!! Nope I haven't talked to any current students but I would love to! Are you going to visit the campus? I'm going to the Open House and I"m so excited to see Nashville!!!
  6. Hi everyone! I just got into Vanderbilt's program this year (direct entry pediatric primary care specialty)!!! woohooo and congrats to everyone else.... but in regards to the grades, I definitly didn't have a high GPA... I had a 3.2 undergrad GPA and a 1100 GRE and 4.5 analytical writing score. So they must have liked my essay or something!!! Have any of you been to visit the school? Anyone going to the open house on march 3rd?
  7. Hey! I actually interviewed there about a week ago and toured the campus. It's a very small campus and everyone was helpful and nice, but not nearly as organized as Yale was (I also interviewed there). The only reason I was turned off from the school is that after the first year it is mostly distance based learning and also since you are really only a part time student and also working as an RN, it takes 4 years to become a family nurse practitioner. Let me know if you hear anything else! and if you have any specific questions feel free to ask me!
  8. ok so I just got kind of scared.... there's a group interview as well as an individual interview?!?! I had the impression it was a group "orientation" and then we each had our individual interviews. Am I wrong?! Anyone have any idea what the group interview will entail?! Thanks :)
  9. Good luck booking! I'm leaving for a cruise tomorrow (yey!) but I'll be back next week and we can figure out when to meet up! Have a good week!
  10. Here's another FYI... I just called the Marriott and they gave me the 69$ rate for two nights, the 18th and 19th, with transportation to and from the interview. So either the lady I spoke with messed up and gave me the discount, or the 69$ rate still stands! And yes I'll be arriving to New Haven on the 18th around 5:30 pm. I'm going to try to make it to the pot luck but I may not have time. Are you going to the pot luck that night? We should meet up sometime after that and get coffee or explore the town or something. Anything to calm the nerves!!!
  11. Thanks for the advice about planned parenthood.. thats a really good idea! Are you at the one by mission beach by chance?! I went abroad one semester to Spain and had an internship at a children's hospital there which was really good experience. I also have volunteered at several hospitals, however, I wish I had more shadowing experience. I've shadowed one pediatric NP a while back. What day are you leaving again? We should definitly try to meet up. However, I'm in Arizona now where my family lives and I won't be heading back to San Diego until the 16th at night after my Western interview. If we don't have time to meet up before we should try to meet up in CT if we have time!!!
  12. Honestly, I'd go anywhere that accepts me :) But Yale is Yale... so that might have to be my #1. You?! Have you had any medical experience in San Diego? I wish I had more time to get some more experience in.... but that looks doubtful!
  13. Hey again! I'm going to USD right now and will graduate this coming May. I also applied to Western University of Health Sciences and have an interview there on the 16th of Jan, Vaderbilt, Seattle University, and I got rejected from UCSF ! How about you? Are you flying directly into New Haven or into Hartford?
  14. Hey Elle, I'm going for the pediatric np track and i'll be leaving on the 18th and arriving around 5:30 so I'm going to try to make it to the potluck if I have time. THen I'm heading back to San Diego on the 20th. DO you know where you are staying? I think I might do the Marriot deal, but still not sure. Are you going to school in San Diego now or working there?
