HELP! What do you think I should do, fellow HH nurses?
Get out. It's not your responsibility that he has no other RN too see pts. That is a sinking ship and I think a violation of labor board to pay both salary and PPV. It is where I live.

Reasonable expectations in HH?
I am a branch director of local HH and that is a lot of visits. If you are weekend only and being paid a salary that may be one thing. The RN should have been made to go to the culture. We work together as a team. But I dont do all of those insulins either. They must be doing them as an outlier.

What should I Have Done?
I agree with jjjoy. Other people get away with so much stuff and never get a slap on the hand. She messes up once and gets terminated. I slide out of the chair and just sitting on the floor to me was not so emergent that she couldnt finish the test. A FALL out of the bed-is a different story......

anyone work in very small nicu units?
I did a Level II nursery for 4 years and I loved it. Neonatal nsg will always be my first love. I just got burned out. The 12 hours were getting to be too much. I am in home health now and none of the nurses like to see any babies so I relish it when I can get my hands on a baby!!!!!

Scalp IV's
I always was able to get in an extremity. My favorite was the saphenous. It seemed to stay the longest.
