How many females are "peeking" in this forum?
I am here! I was curious... I was so surprised to find out how many men were in our nursing class. I think it is great that men are finally getting mainstreamed into this profession. there are several of my fellow students who are male that I would put my life in their hands. In the past before I got into nursing, I would have felt very uncomfortable with having a male Nurse, Nurse's assistant, or even a CNA. But I wouldn't think twice about it now. Just sharing....

Travel Nursing while married ..... Good or bad????
Hello! I am very curious about travel nursing. I am married and was wondering if anyone can share anything about traveling ... good or bad. Was the accomodations adequate, was the pay worth it, how did spouse (or significant other deal with it), did spouse (or SO) go with you, etc, etc. Does anyone know of a reputible agency? I still have 3 more semesters to go beofe graduation, but I want to be prepared and informed. THANKS!!!!!!

Time to Come Clean,,,,slips of the tongue
while doing the assesment and vitals of my second patient, (yes, 2nd) during clinicals, i was explaining that i would be listening to her heart and lungs. she had several family members and coworkers in there visiting at the time. when she asked why i was listening to her lungs (she was in the ortho ward) i told her that i needed to listen to her breast sounds when i meant to say breath sounds. this ellicited laughter and giggles from the family and it was on. they poked fun at me the entire shift. it was all in good nature and even i got a laugh out of it, as i am always so professional and cool under pressure. this just showed me that even i make mistakes!!:imbar

Anyone waiting to apply for a 2008 start!!!
Hello, I am a first time sucess story! I am in SC and Started in Jan of this year. Busted my butt full time through spring, summer, and now fall classes. Our deadline was earlier this month and I just got my acceptance letter for Spring RN clinicals (jan 2008)!!!! :) Our school goes on a competitive entry program. You accumulate points based on several factors; GPA, SAT, ACT, NET test scores, individualcourse grades, yada yada yada. Anyways, the more points you have earned the higher on the waiting list you are, no matter how long you have been waiting (even if it is only 4 months like me!). Good luck with Spring entry, I hope you make it!! It is so exciting and scary! I am a mother of 4 children and I think my nerves have been tested more since being in the pre nursing program than ever!
