  1. :balloons: is there such a thing as a clinic for pregnant and new moms who may be underpriviledged and in need of care ? i am pro-life, and i have always had this dream of going to an area where there is a need for helping mothers. it is something i have never been able to get out of my mind. when i look at the abortion issue and the struggles of single moms -i want to help; i feel i can't be satisfied unless i do. i am an lpn of 17 yrs. seems like everything is for rns. i would love to go out into homes to do well baby care..check up on how new moms are doing. my thoughts go to southern ohio, kentucky, wva. does anyone have any ideas? thank you! daun :monkeydance: .....love helping moms and kids!
  2. When I began my studies for RN, I went through Rue. They provide a diirected study system where you don;t have to guess what to study. I did well with that. When I decided I should not have to pay them and also Excelsior College, I only had Excelsior Study Guides to work from. Although the study guides are useful, they do not key in on everything. The tests were more difficult, but I managed. There was always questions related to lab results, disease symptoms and management; plus the tests were very broad. I didn't like it, because unlike LPN school, you did not have just one subject, say disease process and related drugs; the range of material was extensive, so one never knew exactly what to study. Looking back, I wonder how I did pass tests with no instructor, or ANY outside help. This in itself takes knowledge and motivation, so I question all of the people who say the Excelsior program is inadequate. My learning has been more difficult, and because of this, I can say yes I have worked harder to achieve what I have because I have had no help what soever. At the same time, I have worked as a nurse while studying, plus take care of a family. The effort one puts into something should be appreciated. Daun
  3. THANK YOU! Your information and support is great-from one nurse to another! Daun.
