the formal review comes in two phases - the regular sessions and the final coaching. initially, you would be overwhelmed by the magnitude of information. you would not know where to focus, which data are essential knowledge and the updates in the local board exam. review classes can help you direct your attention. plus you have to keep up with the pace set by the review center. with self-review, you tend to take a leisurely pace. but this is good if you need to read up on the topics that involves a lot of your time. so i would suggest regular review, then self-review instead of the final coaching.

i am a new nurse and still learning to adapt to the nursing profession. i have been reading the various posts and this is the one that made me re-evaluate my perspective on patient care. your views are truly wonderful. they help shape my point of view and how i can deal with my patients with compassion and still be within the legal bounds of the nursing responsibility. to all, pls accept my heartfelt thanks...

if you want to invest in books, it would be best if you can still use them in the next phase of your nursing career. we had a frenzy back then with regards to getting our hands on review materials. recommendations were high up on our list. but our books ended up in their pristine condition - didn't have time to read them anymore. this happened to some review materials like the NSNA comprehensive review & the sia books (sia - mostly relevant for NLE review. gave them away after passing NLE). for MS, psychia, get hold of any book that you like reading, sort of a reference in case you need to clarify some concepts. Some review materials give you lists but they do not provide you explanations, the relationships of concepts and the whys. You end up memorizing. I find the Lipincott Manual of Nursing Practice a good buy. I have the anatomy book of marieb. ever useful. for funda, udan is concise and informative enough for me. i have now 2 of the Lipincott review series. good material. they offer MS, psychia, MCN, pedia, etc. but i found them useful now that i am studying for nclex. too bad i did not get them when reviewing for my NLE.

june 06 passers..current status?
my sponsor (my mom who is based in NJ) wants me to retake this june 2007, i may probably do just to put her at rest. but if the cgfns decides in favor of june 2006 examinees, i surely would not do so... haven't applied for work yet because the license was released only this 2nd wk of jan - just about the same time when my eligibility with NM came. so one thing at a time first. have you been issued a PRC Board Certificate? the one that looks like a diploma? PRC Cebu here says that they have not released any 1 from the june 2006 passers...
