  1. It went ok...no knowledge questions...just mostly about your experiences...is that what you all thought?? Of course, I thought my answers were fine when I was in there, but now I wish I had said other things!!! Good luck to everybody the rest of the week! Glad it's over...now for the waiting!!
  2. My interview is tomorrow, but other than that i really don't know anything...I have heard they just ask pretty general questions about you and your experiences...good luck!
  3. Oh, wow...That's not as many as I was expecting! Good luck on interviews everybody! I'm nervous!
  4. Any UAB interviewees out there?? Also, does anybody know how many people they interview/accept? Thanks!
  5. Hope your interview with them went well! I think I'm gonna apply there next year...
  6. I'm an alternate...I didn't get my letter until Wednesday; and I live pretty close to Samford! I think maybe my postman doesn't like me:wink2:
  7. anybody know if they have sent out letters yet??
  8. Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what exactly it was; maybe it was just the fact that he seemed to be trying to make me unsure of my answers. I do hope that they have at least sent out the letters by now...but the at least all of this time has made me more comfortable with the possibility of not being accepted...will find out soon enough. hope class is going well for you all
  9. To all those whore are currently in Samford's CRNA program: I was just wondering how you felt about the interview after it was over? I am aware that I will have my real answer in a few days, but I don't feel great about it and I just thought I'd ask anyways...thanks in advance!
  10. Today was ok...Like people have said, all of the instructors are incredibly nice... the guy who asks clinical questions just asks them based off what type of patients you took care of...the questions weren't too bad, considering you are nervous...it was hard to tell if my answers were adequate, though...i'm fairly certain i did not give a very good answer for how a balloon pump worked, so i don't feel great about that...good luck to you tomorrow! let us know how it goes!
  11. AH! My interview is tomorrow morning! I'm so nervous! Thanks everybody for the advice. I am in cardiac nursing, so I guess we will see about those dreaded clinical questions Good luck to everybody who is interviewing!
  12. Oh! I'm going August 27 in the AM, too...see you there focker-male nurse!
  13. Did anybody else's letter say that interview are Aug. 27-29 and then acceptance letters will go out at the end of August? I didn't think to ask when I scheduled my interview, but surely they meant September, right??
  14. Me too! I really like everything about Samford so far! I'm so excited and nervous at the same time! This will be my first interview! What day are you going, if you don't mind my asking??
  15. I have also applied...interview letters should be coming soon, hmm??? Good luck to everybody!!! I'm also planning to apply to UAB, too...anybody else??
  16. Well, I am taking the class because it is a pre-req for a certain school (UAB) so I know I will have to submit that transcript to them. I was told by the rep at another school that advanced classes like that are somehting that can help set yourself apart even if they aren't pre-requirements. I was just wondering what other people's opinions were on whether it would be helpful even if I ended up with a B.
  17. Hi all...I'm applying to CRNA school for 2009 admission...I am currently taking a masters-level patho class to help my application look better(re-cap of stats: gre-1180, 700 quant, 480 verbal; 3.57 nursing gpa; 3.8 pre-req gpa-2 chemistries, currently 9 mo ICU exp. will have 1.5-2 at admission; ACLS). My problem is that I may end up with a B in the patho course. I'm wondering, if it is from a different school than any other of my courses, should I even include it in my app. transcripts? Do you think having the class but having a B will still help or could it hurt? Thanks soo much for your input, this has been a pretty big dilemma for me lately!
  18. Congrats to you guys who were accepted! I am planning to apply to UT Mem for 2009 admission, so this information was really helpful and such a nice change from the interview horror stories from other places. Kwalrn, hope to see you at interviews next year!
  19. hey...i have researched this A LOT because I love NICU, but the impression i got from most schools i have looked at really prefer adult ICU experience...i agree with smiley, definitely call the school and make sure you would be a COMPETITIVE candidate if you went to NICU...i don't think special care nurseries would work, either, though...
  20. Hi Everybody. I'm applying to CRNA school next year and I was wondering if you all think I will have enough of the necessary experience/good enough stats....just like about half of the other posts . Anyway, I would definitely appreciate your input! -I have worked in a CCU and I would say about 75% of the patients I have come with vents, swans, vasoactive drips (so I will have worked about 1.5 years when I apply)...I'm still not 100% knowledgeable about them but I think I will be -3.6 gpa in nursing and 3.8 pre-nursing...math/science gpa is 3.7 -1180 (700 quantitative and 480 verbal) on gre...will probably retake to get verbal over 500 -also plan on taking organic next semester and hopefully get ccrn after enough hours to qualify -have shadowed CRNA=loved it!!!!! thanks in advance for all of your input!!!
  21. Thanks for all of your posts guys...you're all really helping...a year seems to be the pretty much accepted standard for feeling comfortable in the icu environment...i guess I'm really starting to accept this standard, which has actually made me more comfortable before coming to work...i still would never dream of applying without a year of experience, no matter how excited i am about anesthesia! i really do like it, and next semester i think i will take a prereq organic chemistry for one of the schools i plan to apply to...the more i shadow and the more i come to work, the less i want to give up...i think i'm just so ready to reach that comfort level!!!!
  22. Hello all... I've been a nurse in a CCU for a little over 4 months. I've shadowed CRNAs and done lots of research on the field...I've loved every minute of it and until recently I was absolutely sure this is what I wanted to do. However, I get so nervous before coming to work because of all the errors that are possible, and i'm supposed to be responsible for these very sick people, etc...I still love everything about vents and lines and think anesthesia is fascinating, but the risks associated with the job still make me nervous. I'm wondering: is this still normal, and do I need to give myself more time to get used to it...should I continue to pursue a career as a CRNA??? thanks in advance for the input.
  23. Haha...that's funny, I didn't even look at the date you posted when I replied! I'm about to graduate this May, fun!
  24. Hey! I'm a senior in the BSN program at the W! It's definitely not easy, but is certainly doable! I would love to try to answer any questions or ease any concerns you may have!
  25. I currently live in Starkville, but I want to move to Southhaven after I graduate! Anybody know of any jobs up there??
