  1. I did not realize until our RN instructor prior to my becoming an RN a number of years ago showed us in our state Assessment was an Rn function --- I told her that in the nursing home we did a lot of admit assessment forms and were signing them as LPN's and she said you can do the form but they should change the name because LPN/s dont assess. I thought that was weird. also there were instances that LPN's were charge nurse -- and I was told ultimately they could have so many hours with no RN supervision there but then it fell under the director of nurses license. Other wise it was RN charge nurse -- and even though your LPN's have a license and supervise cnas they are under the RN's license who was charge nurse. Yes the LPN does something dumb and can get sued but don't think they would sue the person in charge untimately too.
  2. Depends on your clientel. We have Geri- Psych 55 and above and there are times when they are up and we only have one RN and an MHT -- So there are times when your busy and times when all your paperwork is done. We are the ones to do audits, MARs, get the charts caught up -- occassional emergency admits and you always have morning meds....
  3. :balloons: clogs - esp croc type or croc hole or no hole are the most comfortable shoe I've worn. I have plantar facitis. Also work in a Geri Psych unit. We were doing cares in a bathroom on a person and the staff that was with me had leather shoes on -- patient urinated on floor, shoes etc. my rubber shoes were easy to clean off. Showered off and then quat disinfected -- here leather type tennis shoes were ruined. She ended up wearing "patient footy slippers the rest of the day" and since it was summer wore them home instead of putting on urinated leather tennis shoes. In the hospital I worked in previously Surgery started the craze due to the ease of cleaning when fluids etc were easily spilt. Even though they had shoe covers they felt they could be cleaned and sterilized better than a leather shoe.
  4. I worked in a Nursing Home -- and they had TMA'S -- we were force to work 2 wings one with a nurse passing meds and one with a TMA under our license. I complained and they thought I was Just a pain in the 'butt" The TMA has 60 hours of training and worked under my license in the nursing home.
