  1. Whatever! I'm sure you have a lot of room to talk.
  2. I was not judging anyone. I simply stated that we probably would not see many gays in LTC, because the lifestyle they live is more risky than most people.
  3. I do not know if I have taken care of a gay person in LTC or not, they didn't have the nerve to admit it if they were. They do deserve the same treatment that anyone else receives. I do not think we will see very many of them in LTC, it seems to me that they die before they make it to that age. I guess this comes along the extravagant lifestyle that most gays live.
  4. I think the best thing you can do is get a list of standing orders. The hospital where I used to work had standing orders for each group of doctors that did rounds there. Another thing you could have done when you called the MD the first time with blood in the urine is to ask for irrigation if needed, then you already have the order if you need to use it. Doctors really get mad when the same nurse calls them more than 1 time per shift. They are a little ticky, you know. Lots of luck
  5. It is nice to know that someone has our backs when faced with such an attitude. She needs to wake up and realize that she is not still living in the 19th century. She also needs to understand that not everybody wants to be an EMT and most people can't afford to attend med school. We do, however want to get our foot into the health field and nursing gives us that opportunity, beside that nursing is a really good field to be in. Thanks again.
