  1. Just accepted into the FNP program at UCLA! So excited!
  2. I think 3.0 is the minimum...I know for most new grad programs they weigh your GPA pretty heavily.
  3. I just got a call today saying I got in :) Super excited!
  4. Hmm I had my Talentplus interview a while ago, I'll cross my fingers then!
  5. Did you have an interview at UCLA?
  6. At my school we have to go to the hospital the day before to pick our patient for the next day, then (depending on the professor) do a bunch of prep work (i.e. looking up all the patient's meds, the patho for their diagnosis, etc.) that usually took me 1-2 hours. My BSN program varies quarter to quarter, usually we have 2 lectures (3-4 hrs/week) and 1 clinical (9 hrs/week). To be honest I've worked at least 20 hrs/week all the way through and taken electives every quarter, and been president of the nursing students association and still get mostly A's. Time management!!!!!
  7. In my OB rotation there weren't too many circumcisions performed (it's usally done at the pediatrician's). Another classmate and I saw one, but I volunteered to go. They're not going to drag you into the procedure room and make you watch.
  8. Yeah the deadline was back in January.
  9. Dumb stuff, nothing to do with nursing. My favs included, "Are you a habitual smiler? Are you addicted to a positive attitude?" I think they were just looking to make sure you're consistent.
  10. Our instructor had us dump the kit's contents onto the sterile mat (just tip the kit over- you don't need to have sterile gloves on since the outside of the kit doesn't need to be sterile). After you put on your gloves you can put the gauze/saline into whatever compartment you want.
  11. Well out of more than 500 applicants, 60 got in for fall quarter this year and 40 got in for spring quarter. They take the top applicants, so that should give you some idea of the acceptance rates. I had mostly A's and a good GPA, and hospital volunteer experience. Hope this helps!
  12. Hi, I'm starting nursing school in the fall, and recently got my huge laundry list of things I'll need to buy for the upcoming year (the tab is reaching $500, I'm not kidding). Aside from the prospect of being broke before even starting school, I'm uncertain about what kind of shoes to get for clinicals. They have to be white, non-skid, non-porous, no clogs or tennis shoes, etc. What kind of shoes did you buy?
  13. Nope, just the regular non-licensure BSN program.
  14. I actually just heard today from the nursing program at CSUSM- they notify you by phone. I'll be starting at CSULA in the fall though. Good luck!
  15. Thanks! Where did you do your clinicals?
