HELP! Legal Issue (Accreditation)
I need some information and/or advice quickly if anyone can please help. A local college decided to move from the Associate Degree RN to the Bachelor Degree RN program about two years ago. The catch is that they can only do that if another college in the area picks up the Associate program (which my college did). Obviously when you start a new program like this, you need to show interest/need and the first couple of times out all applicants get accepted. I know that you must graduate your first group before you are able to apply for accreditation (which we just did). However, the NCLEX pass rates were dismal due to all program applicants being accepted and now we're on probation of some sort. I'm now afraid that we will not receive accreditation and that I will have invested all of this time and money for nothing. I'm due to start the program in January and it's set up so weird (1 RN class per semester that covers everything and is worth 9hr) I'm afraid that my credits won't transfer if I have to go elsewhere. Can anyone tell me what happens if your school fails to gain accreditation? Furthermore, how do I find out the status of our program? We've been asking deans and directors for over a year now and no one will talk about it! HELP!

Nursing Students in Northern Kentucky?
I'm dual enrolled through Gateway at NKU... 18 months for BSN? Now I wish I'd have looked around more lol. Gateway works so well with my schedule though. The only thing I'm not so fond of is the selective admission process at my school. Hmm... Maybe I'll transfer completely at the end of the semester. I'm in the Florence area myself. Stick in there, it's really quite fun. Have you gotten to do any clinicals yet? That's when you start to realize it doesn't suck all the time :chuckle I got your e-mail, look for a reply today.

Most RN's first borns?
1st born...VERY dysfunctional family lol. I raised my brother and sister... Never thought about the psychology of it till now. Thanks for that! Not only do I now suspect I may be dysfunctional now as well, I also have a good topic for my next psych paper!

Nursing Students in Northern Kentucky?
I just started nursing school in Northern Kentucky and am having trouble locating other people in the same boat and geographical location Since there are very few who can afford to just go to school, I imagine there are plenty of others who work and go to school (both full time) and feel a bit like they've sold their souls... Where is my time to hit the gym? Aside from the fact I have no one to go with on this insane schedule, it feels like I'm on the go all the time (even in my sleep, hence the lovely dark circles) and lack motivation for purely personal/fun excursions. Anyone out there also trying to dig out of their hermit holes, let me know! Gold's Gym in Erlanger is central to both school and home for me.

School uniforms.. ugh..
Look on the bright side, at least you know what you'll be wearing lol. At Gateway it's a heavily guarded secret it seems. They told us any color or print scrubs were fine for classes and all white scrubs for clinicals... As soon as we went out and bought them we were told that they never said we could wear scrubs to class. GRR! Hopefully once the next batch of us get seated in the program formally someone will come forward and enlighten us.
