  1. I'm hoping that with Kaplan things will be different but in the past when it was Maric they had a very low pass rate for the boards and I know a lot of local hospitals would hire other nurses who went to other schools over Maric students. My sister is currently taking classes there and seems to like it so I'm hoping they've changed for the better.
  2. My first semester at Grossmont was Fundamentals, then med surg/ obgyn/psych second semester. First semester we had 9 hours of lecture and 8 hours of clinical, plus lab time. I was able to work part time pretty easily, as long as your work is willing to work around your school schedule. Granted things may be different now as my first semester was in 2002. Hope that helps :wink2:
  3. I wanted to share my story with you all. I graduated nursing school in June 2004. Took the NCLEX for the first time Jan. 2005 and failed. Retook the exam in Oct. 2006 and failed. I then retook the exam for a 3rd time Dec. 2007 and passed, over 3 years since I had graduated school. I used Susanne's plan the 3rd time and really believe that is why I passed. Never give up no matter how long you've been out of school, cause if you want it, it will happen!
  4. I love the brand S.C.R.U.B.S. http://www.smartscrubs.com/ScrubsSuperStore/10/wa/gotoStylesForBrand?brand=S.C.R.U.B.S.&gender=F&wosid=Rl20001F300wi000Ky They are a little bit pricey but they last forever and mine haven't faded yet and I've had them for over 4 years.
  5. I really need some new shoes for work. Something comfortable and that will support my feet. Any suggestions on what to get? I'll be working 12 hr shift.
  6. I passed the boards 5 weeks ago, and still haven't heard back from all the applications I've sent out. With all the talk of nursing shortages, why is it so hard to get a job? Could I be doing something wrong? Did anyone else have trouble getting a job?
  7. I took the NCLEX 3 times and finally passed on the 3rd after using Suzanne's plan. Defiantly give it a go, it works! Follow it exactly and you will pass. I had tried Kaplan before and still failed. Her plan is what worked and I had been out of school for 3 years by the time I used her plan and still passed. Good Luck!
  8. i passed!!!!!!:balloons::smiley_aa:yelclap: i found out this morning. my name is on the ca bon website. i thought i failed but i didn't. 3rd times a charm. thanks to everyone here at allnurses for their support, i couldn't have done it with out this site or susanne's plan!
  9. i passed!!!!!!:balloons::smiley_aa:yelclap: i found out this morning. my name is on the ca bon website. i thought i failed but i didn't. 3rd times a charm. thanks to everyone here at allnurses for their support, i couldn't have done it with out this site or susanne's plan!
  10. I had 75 q and was done in about an hour and 15 mins. A few meds, about 4 sata, 1 math, and a bunch of others. I don't know how I feel about it. Well yes I do. I feel like I failed, but I was so prepared this time. Ugh Now I have just have to wait. I hate that California doesn't have quick results. I'm going to keep praying.
  11. Today is the day. Eek. I test at 2pm pst. I feel ready I just hope that translates into a passing. Say a prayer for me please.
  12. oh my that is my name next on the list. eek! i'm doing questions all the way up until monday night. then i'm going to stop, relax on christmas and pray. it will really be out of my hands then. i just hope i did enough to prepare this time. i feel more ready than before so hopefully that is a good sign. congrats to everyone that has passed!
  13. congrats to everyone thats passed. I'm feeling like December is a good month to be taking this test! So much good luck going on
  14. I failed with 265 the first time and 75 the second time. The third time I will be passing :)
  15. Thanks for all the responses. I ended up rescheduling it for Dec. 26. I feel much better about that date, and my ATT doesn't expire until Sept 2008, so I'm good :)
  16. I love all the support in this thread. I have a question about meds, when you guys study are you just studying nursing implications for a med or are you also studying side effects, contradictions, indications, actions etc... And also how much focus should I be putting on meds? There are so many.
  17. Only you know how ready you are. Part of me wanted to just take it and get it over with but I didn't want to look back and wish I had rescheduled. It's a lot easier to change the date then it is to reapply to take the test. Cheaper too!
  18. I changed my date to Dec. 26. I was stressing really hard and felt that two more weeks would help. Congrats to those who passed! :balloons:
  19. I've been using Saunders doing questions on the computer and also reviewing a couple chapters a day. If I were to reschedule it would only be for a couple weeks later. Like the 26th. I decided to go ahead and reschedule my test for Dec 26. I feel a lot less stressed.
  20. I'm scheduled to take the nclex on dec 12th. Part of me wants to reschedule it for after christmas. Does one ever feel ready? I don't know if I should take it on the 12th or reschedule it. Any advice?
  21. I take the NCLEX RN Dec 12th. This is my third attempt. I've been using suzanne's study plan with the saunders book. I really need to pass this time. My life is pretty much on hold. Third times a charm right?
