  1. :yeah:I have been wearing my Dansko's for a year now. I LOVE them. I have two pair which I switch out regularly. I tried my walking/running shoes and crocs. Crocs make my feet sweat too much and my feet killed by the end of my shift with my other shoes. I have plantar facsitis (spelling) and these shoes have done great for me.
  2. As most people said there are perks to both. I think it's a personal decision of where you want to be, however, I do think the experience you gain in the hospital setting definately has more educational value. Of course, this does depend on where you want to be when you are done. Personally I enjoy the hospital much more. However, I work in post partum and newborn care so I'm in a rather upbeat and "clean" environment compared to the nitty gritty of a nursing home which is VERY dirty at times and very depressing for me. Good luck! It's a tough job but it'll really help you figure out if nursing is for you. There are some nurses who will take you under their wings and teach you, treating you as a peer and others who will walk all over you and treat you as a slave then ***** at you for not doing enough. Watch your back and do your job but always stand up for yourself. Not trying to scare you but I've learned that women can be VERY difficult to work with especially in the RN profession. Sad but true.
  3. This response is a little harsh. It's attitudes like your's that give nursing a bad name. Having test anxiety does not mean a person will fail in a emergency situation which is totally different. If nurses would be a little more supportive of each othe and of nursing students this would be a better career. Get over yourself and realize you were once working hard to get where you are today.
  4. Thanks!!!! :-)
  5. I am a single mom going back to school for my 4 year BSN. I wanted to see if any of you were single parents while attending nursing school. If so what kind of advice do you have??? What tips for financing my education and taking care of my child can you give. I really appreciate your taking the time to read/answer this post. Thanks! Dawn
