Hello, I'm a med surg nurse who works with medsurg/GI/transplant/seizure/chronic kids on a pediatric floor. I have been doing this for 11 years now working full time, nightshift only. To help east some stress, the past 8 months I switched from full time status (6 nights a pay period) to partial full time, which is basically 5 nights a pay period. It has helped a little, but I have to say I am still a bit burnt out. I recently went to an interview for a laser aesthetic company and most likely will be hired. The only thing is I will working more, dayshift, full time, and will get a nearly 50% per hour pay cut. I think I might be more happier in a new environment, but I'm a bit anxious about the change since I have been doing the same thing for over a decade. I will also stay per diem at the current job to make sure I can still pay my bills. So essentially I will be working much more, to perhaps make about the same amount. I will also have to commit to a year at the laser job. I'm quite nervous about this career change. Do you think its even possible to negotiate my pay despite my lack of experience in the new field? I'm not sure how that works in general. I also have no asked the new employer this, I was told off the bat what "starting pay" was. Has anyone else done something like this? Was your pay cut worth it? Can you share your advice/stories?

I go to loma linda university (loma linda, ca)... in a BSN program. .after we take critical care and peds, we have our AA degree.. i finished that quarter in spring of 06..i did what alot of students did and got the NCLEX over with in the summmer... not alot of schools let you take the test before the bns program is over...but my school does.. =)

i don't know if this is the correct place this thread should be..but could anyone give me info on how to become an aesthetic nurse? .. like botox, laser...etc.. medical spa setting?.. I'm a new grad.or will finish my bsn in about a week..i just have a project and a final to complete..i already have my license...but shoot..i don't really know if i want to become a bedside nurse. I want to start working NOW, and not wait for new grad programs out there.. i will be bored if i don't do something after i'm done with school. but anyways.. i found a number where they will train you, and you get hands on training on botox, how to use the laser machine,etc,...and you get a certificate, but its not required in the state of CA. is there anything else i should know ..if i want to really pursue this desire? or does anyone know of any websites on how i can go about that? thanks..

to nupe... wow.. reading this post suddently changed my mind.. im a soon to be rn who just took the boards yesterday...and iv been reading about future possible plans of perhaps becoming a CRNA years from now. but my focus was on the money---i feel shallow and greedy:uhoh3: ..... i don't know too much bout the profession..but it "seemed" doable---the extra years of school...and what little i know bout the profession... hmm..i guess it really just depends on the person.. but i suggest that you look in on something better.. its not worth living your life miserable.... regardless of how much money you can make living your life the way you want it... money aint everything..if you aren't 100% satisfied:madface:

someone told me that.. getting those "mult answer/select all that apply" q's means that you are scoring correctly ..and they are harder....like.the more you get right..the harder the questions seem to get..and the more you get them wrong the easier the questions get.. is this true? ..i got 7 questions like that.. out of 145 questions.. and i did not get any other type of alternative questions.. feedback?

ok i just got home.. had about 7 "select all that apply" ?'s no math... 145 questions.. i got tired and sleepy in the middle of the test.. i don't k now alot of stuff i did not know..so i really just took a guess.. im scared... i don't wanna have to pay 200 and iv been studying alot.... i hope i passed... i hope i passed....

hi....i should be asleep cuz im taking the nclex tommorow at 8.but i wanted to know how to check if i passed.. like ..where do i go online? ..and where exactly do i go..and after how many days can i check?.. and do i have to pay for anything. thanks alot everyone!
