  1. I am starting as a new grad in the ED of a brand new hospital in CA. The hospital opens on November 7th. I have been reading about malpractice insurance on some of these threads and am wondering if I need it, and if I do, how do I get it? I would think the hospital would provide that, but from what I am hearing on here they don't. Any help would be appreciated...thanks.
  2. hi, my name is alison and i graduated in may 2007. i moved to california this summer so i got my license in new mexico where i graduated and then transferred it to california. i have been lucky enough as a new grad to get a job in the ed at a brand new hospital opening here in november. i am really nervous because i am still a newbie, but also really excited about the fast-pace and everything i will learn! has anyone else started out in the ed as a new grad? apparently they only take a few in there, and i feel so privledged. anyone have any advice or encouragment? thanks, alison
  3. What is the Hesi? Is it similar to the ATI? We have to take those each semester but we don't pay for them...
  4. It is so nice to see others getting their degree later in life. I was starting to feel old! I started when I was 39 and will be 41 when I graduate. I probably won't have my bachelors until I am at least 43!
  5. Hello, my name is Alison and I will graduate from nursing school here in Santa Fe, NM in May 2007. I am pregnant with a baby boy who is due in April 2007. (It's gonna be close, but I'm bound and determined). I really want to move back to California after I have the baby because that is where my family is. But I just found out that I can't go straight to CA and get my license because the clinical hour requirement there (for school) is 900 hours! When I am done in my program I will have completed about 600+ hours. So, I will have to get my license here first. But I am I going to have a problem transferring it right away? Do I need to work here for a few months first? Has anyone gone straight from the area that New Mexico compacts with to California? I feel like it shouldn't be this frustrating, after all the NCLEX is a nationwide test now. Why isn't your license good anywhere anyway? Why do each of the states have different requirements? It seems that if they were all the same it would make so much more sense. Isn't there a National League of Nurses? Help!!!!!!
