  1. what happens if you cant find a place, or if you go to a clinical site and they seem that they dont want to teach at all.
  2. Lately I have been thinking on going back to school to become a FNP. However, there are things that are holding me back. I would like to know if any of you went through the same thing. I love my 3 12hr schedule, work sunday monday and tuesday and go away for 6 days without asking for time off. I am a travel nurse now and as many now the pay is pretty good . I ask myself , is it worth it to go to school for almost 3 years if I can almost earn the same as a travel nurse? What if i cannot find a job that offers me a good flexible schedule? Any suggestion or advises are greatly appreciated.
  3. Thanks for that great explination. Have you had a NICU pbds? do you know what diseases i should focus on? if you had a nicu pbds , can you give me an example scenario? Thanks so much.
  4. I will be starting my first travel nurse assignment at Broward Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. I was not informed about this PBDS test until after I accepted the position and according to my recruiter if i dont pass the test I wont get the job. The travel agency has no study guides for this test. Are there any nurses out there who had the PBDS for a nicu position? Where there nicu scenarios? What kind of conditions? I dont even know where to start studying from. Thanks.
  5. I will be starting my first travel nurse assignment. I was wondering how the orientation to the hospital/charting/policies usually goes. What questions as a nicu travel nurse i should be asking on my first shifts. I worked at a hospital that changed policies all the time in regards to blood transfusions, broviac dressing change, iv line changes, etc. Any recommendations or am I getting too nervous for no reason.
  6. terrible in what? I am new to travel nursing and I might accept a position in wpb NICU
  7. I am devating if I should take a travel nurse assignment or a contract FT job at a NICU in orlando area. Does anyone have any idea about the average salary for an experienced nurse. I have 5 years of experience.
  8. I am new to travel nursing. It was my understading that they give you housing placement... does this mean that you are gonna live in a a hotel for 3months? I have a small dog. How am I gonna do that?
  9. Thank you NedRN. Have you worked in Florida? Per diem sounds like a great idea. The problem is getting canceled frequently and not having income to pay rent and stuff. I think most Physicians have attitudes everywhere.
  10. I am a NICU IV nurse with 5 years of experience. I have been out of work for 9 months due to life changing events. I really want to start doing travel nursing in Florida but am so nervous that orientation is only 1 or 2 shifts and then you are on your own. I feel like am already forgetting the practice on a lot of things. Any suggestions or comments on how to start travel nursing with the right foot? does anyone have any experiences with florida hospitals? Thank you all in advance.
  11. I get paid $33hr night shift as a NICU RN with 1 yr of experience and i dont get weekend differencial, which sucks.
  12. would you mind me asking how much you get paid now?
  13. thanks, it says that in boca raton is about $30.50 hr, I am not sure how true that is..
