semperfi, what do you mean "nursing shortage doesn't exist in co"?! nursing shortage is nationalwide problem. why is colorado different? where this information came from? and is it the same with nurses with some experience? i'm rn with 2 years of hospital experience. i plan to move to co. will i have too a real problems to find a job?!

louimed, thank you for reply. ltf is long-term facility. i'm actually not a new graduate. i have 1 year experience as lpn in nursing home and as rn almost 2 years (can you count "almost"?) in med-surg unit in hospital. in the current time i'm in process of getting bsn; hope to graduate in 2010. but i'm still concerned about finding a job due to bad economics. i do appreciate your advice about visiting unit manager. great idea!

louiemed5, are you new graduate? how many years of experience do you have? it's so hard to imagine that after significant nursing shortage the situation just turn over the night to complete excess of hospital nurses. is the situation the same in ltf?

Usually it is $3-5 plus. Don't think this hospital would be any different.

i am also moving to colorado (denver/boulder area). couple week ago i talked to my friend who works as rn there. she told me that boulder hospital pay is less than others in area. asia was right about housing in boulder: absolutely outrageous! it is so expensive that is almost ridiculous. apartments aren’t cheap either.

I checked Denver Health web. Minimum pay is about $24 (ouch...), middle is $31, and max is $38

There are several accelerated RN to BSN programs. I applied and been accepted to 2 of them: passed Grandview and went to Upper Iowa University, West Des Moines campus. I take part-time courses (one class in 8 weeks semester); it will take for me 2 years to earn my BSN. Those folks who are enrolled full-time, 2 classes in 8 wk semester, will be done in 1 year.

So, did you find anything appealing from HR?

Who knows what is pay for RN with some experience? For example, 2 years?

Just curious, how many year of experience nurse should have to be considered as "experienced" as we speak? Is there any particular time line, crossing which you become experienced?
