  1. Thank you!! Finally! There are others out there that understand!! I am 24 with an Interior Design degree and planning to apply to nursing school. I will apply in Sept 07' to begin in June 08'! I will be 25 and then won't even graduate until I am 26 or close to 27!! I know I am still going to be young, but feel like I will be so old for some reason and just wish I had done this right the first time! (I was a nursing major to begin with in 2000, then changed to Interior Design...why?..I have no idea...) Actually, I DO know why...I had an interest in design and furniture and have a creative background, but LOVe love love medicine and nursing) I am anxious to just get in there and see what it is all about and learn. I hope I get accepted, because otherwise I am not sure what I will do with my prereq's under my belt. I'm not sure I could wait another 6 months to apply again!! Drives me freakin' nuts!!
  2. Hi, I agree with most of you up there - I graduated 2 years ago with a BS in Interior Design and want to become a nurse! I originally began college as a nursing major, but somehow changed because of my interest in 'Art' and 'Crafty things'. I like to draw, paint, change everyone's furniture around in their house....etc. But I soon learned that just because I enjoy using my creative side, does not necessarily mean my life is going to be fulfilled by doing it as a career. Hence my decision to become a nurse! That is what makes nursing such a great career, because people from all walks of life seem to just get sucked into it. It has always had this certain effect on me and I am just really interested in learning all I can. Problem is, I am now about to begin my prereq's and am not sure which school(s) to apply to. I live closest to Kennesaw State and met with an advisor there. Very competitive!! Last year they had 800-1,000 applicants to fill only like 60 spots!! YIKES! Um, yeah...So, I am also interested in Emory's program, but their tuition is like 5 times more than Kennesaw, BUT..I do like Emory's timeline better that KSU's. Anyone out there in the same shoes - or from the Atlanta area that has any pointers? Should I plan to have like 100 grand in loans after graduating Nursing school?
  3. I have a question: Did all of you take out loans to pay for an education at Emory? I am planning to begin my prereq's in Jan 07 at Kennesaw State to apply to their Nursing program, but notice such a HUGE difference in tuition costs. I mean, is it pretty normal to spend over $50,000 on a nursing education? Just curious, because I have heard great things about Emory and KSU's program, but cannot believe the difference in costs.... Anyone?!
  4. Hi, I am not beginning the vicious cycle of pre-nursing until Jan. 07', but here is my schedule for my prerequisites: SPRING 07 - A&P I - Statistics - Chemistry I SUMMER 07- - A&P II (apply to Nursing program here) FALL 07 - Psyc I - Chem II - Sociology SPRING 08 - Psyc II - Microbiology And hopefully begin the program June 2008! Yeah, I know...a freakin' butt-load of classes!! Woo hoo!!
  5. Hello to all, I have kind of a wack-o situation....I graduated in 04' from Georgia Southern University wth a BS in Interior Design! I actually was a Nursing major first, then changed to design because everyone around me convinced me since I have a creative/artsy background. Now, I have been working in the design field for 2 years, but have kept Nursing on my mind constantly! I have decided, after some long, hard-core thinking, that I want to pursue my Nursing degree because I feel that it is what I was supposed to do all along! I am planning to apply to Kennesaw State's Nursing program, which I have heard from one of the program's advisors, that it is EXTREMELY competitive to get in. The advisor told me that last year they had between 800-1,000 applicants to fill 56 spots!! I was thinking, '...you have got to be kidding me!!...' That alone makes me super nervous, but at the same time excited to get in there and make the grades I need to get in and prove to myself that I can do this. Their program requires 12 prereq's before you can begin, but only 7 of those 12 have to be complete to apply (5 have to be math and/or science). So, I only have 3 of those 12 complete that will transfer from GSU: ENGL 1101, 1102 & College Algebra, all of which I made a 'B' in. The advisor told me that last year it took the applicants having 8, 9 and 10 A's out of the 12 to get in, so I will have to basically make all A's in the 9 I have left...... Whhhew!.... You still with me?!?..... So, if I apply by Sept. 07 to the program, I wouldn't even begin until June 08' if I get in. I have Spring 07, Summer 07, Fall 07 and Spring 07 to take the following classes: - Statistics - A&P I - A&P II - Chem I - Chem II - Psyc I - Psyc II - Sociology - Microbiology Sheesh!! How will I do this?! Am I just insane to try and take on A&P, Chem I and Statistics in the Spring? In order to even be considered for June 08' admission, I have to have 4 more maths and/or sciences complete by Sept 07, so I kind of HAVE to take 3 classes in the Spring and 1 in Summer. I keep reading on here that you shouldn't take 2 sciences together that have labs, but I am kind of stuck here....is it possible to manage?.... Can I do it? Anyone?......:uhoh21:
