Hi- I am a L& D Rn with 5 yrs experience. My current job has gone stale , No raise in 2 yrs , due to Hospital/Medi-cal Budget Issues. So the past month I have looked in travel assignments here in California. I signed up one one of the sites, and now my phone and email has been flooded w all these agencies calling. I have spoke w one in particular Suppplemental Healthcare a few times, asking about insur benefits, stipends, pay rate etc. Well , now the recruiter has set up a phone interview w / the L&D MNGER at the hospital , I have been waiting since TUES, and no call yet. she just emails me "they will be calling you." 13 wk assignment $12/hr $18 hr OT rate w a $950 weekly stipend . total $1252 wkly with medical and dental (high ded/HMO) I pretty much make that now, where I am . My bring home is $2100 q 2 weeks , on Night shift. the other agency, Nightengale- called and stated same position at same Hosp $22.74hr/$#$34.11 ot rate $861 weekly stipend +$1625 weekly take home (insur -Crappy) but at that rate , I can pay for my cobra , or another Blue shield plan on my own. Why the difference ? Agency takes that much of Rate ? Nightengale told me , since I already have phone interview set up , I would need to call Supplemental and have them remove my profilefrom their agency , so that Nightengale can sign me ? Im thorouoghly confused on whatt to do here. the assignment is 2 hours away from my home, and I think good for a first timer. Hosp offers $3K bonus at end of 13 wk assignment. How often is the Heparin stopcock syringe changed on a UAc line at your facility ? Sometimes it can get tinged from the blood aspirate, and looks dirty. Our policy is q24 hrs. Just curious to know from you who are so experienced! I have only seen a baby w/ a UAc once in the 8 mos now on our floor. Just wondering! Thanks- Dee

Hi- talked to a friend Superbowl Sunday. She is 38 and now 14 wks along and on Labetalol 100mg BiD, for chr HTn before pregnancy. She has an advanced diag US sched at the Childrens hosp nearby end of the month in leiu of an amnio. Her other sons, 17 and 11, were normal pregnancies. She's eating healthy, watching the weight gain, exercising 1 hr 3 times a wk on a treadmill. I advised her about watching her diet and avoiding fatty & salt in her food. Is their anything else I can tell her to prevent CHr HTn from advancing into PIH complications? She mentioned her CNM is concerned about she is at risk for preterm birth. I mentioned to her that I was not exactly sure@ chr HTN vs PIH , but would read up on it. Any one have any thoughts? Thanks- Dee

Hi All ! Looking for advice in inserting Cytotec. My OB Dr usually oders 50mcg vag q4hrs x 2. Yesterday, i had the hardest time in a Post Date Primip who was thick, high and fingertip dialation. I had her put her hands under her bum, and head lowered all the way down. I hold the tiny 1/2 tab btwn my index and middle finger, sparingly using a tad of lubricant. Still yesterday i had to sweep it up both times, and prayed that I got it into the Cervical Os. Any sugg to make this easier???? My nurses tell me practice makes perfect, and will come in time. Hi- I am a new grad now with 7 mos on my feet runnung the floors! At my hosp, L&D, PP all in 1 unit we average 100-120 deliveries a month. For our new Moms- Vag recovery- 15min x4 30minx x 4 1 hr x 2 then q4 hrs there after. c/s- ( usually 1.5 hrs in recovery rm) then Sat monitor for 24 hrs and 30min x 4 than hourly x 4 then q4 hrs.

I am a new grad on my 2nd month of Orientation in L & D. & I love my job !!!!:wink2: I live in Central Ca & the hourly wage is $32.00 plus a $4/hr night diff & more for wknd nights. This is at a smaller hospital, averages 130 births/month w/ 5 attending OB Docs. The average home cost here is $225,000. Although, this is after our real estate crash last year. Unfortunately, we bought our home during this time & I am paying $1700/ month for a 70's house that needs alot of work! This is where my $ goes! & oh- our gas prices-= Youch!! You can see where the $ goes!

Could I get a copy of it , if possible? I am a new grad who starts next wk on the floor! Small hospital, @ 120 births/ mo. My orientation consits 6 mo, fetal monitoring classes, PPALS & NRP classes, all rotaing days & nights q 2 mo. Muchos Gracias!

Just hang in there! I just took NCLEX on Mon 6-16-18 had 75?'s. But I think I answered my 3 out of 4 Math ?'s wrong!!!! . I am checking the BRN website every am! I have a fellow classmate that took it last Monday & His name was up on Thurs- I've heard other stories of it taking up to 14 days, depending on if your file is complete with them. I saw that my school mailed my transcript to the BRNon 6-09-08 to the BRN. HTH- Signed still waiting!

I just took NCLEX on Mon and my appt wait time was 2 wks. ( I am sooo nervous, got 75?'s and soo many SATA's , checking the BRN website every morning!) Some people may just have to drive to another location if you want it sooner. People in our area (Central Valley) drive to Santa Maria for their appt if needed. HTH!

Call Pearson, I graduated 5-18 & reg w/ Pearson Vue on 5-27, I called them on 6-8, because other students had recvd their ATT, Mine was isssued on 5-27 via email that I never recv'd. HURSt review for the next 4 days & I'm taking NCLEX on 6-16!!! Shakin in my boots! Call them!

Just Graduated yesterday !!!! whopeee!!! Our first selection in our slide show was Carrie Underwood was "so small" then moved on to Greenday& then the another "graduation" song "as we go"popular a few yrs back! Aswesome music & slide show! & Now NCLEX!!!!!:nuke:
