  1. And to the ladies with special needs children, add me to that list too :) I have 2 children with special needs. a 4 year old BOY with a rare genetic disorder 45xo,46xy mixed gonadal dysgenesis, he has had 5 surgeries and over 20 hospital stay sand attends a developmental pre-school. I also have a 2 year old with Pierre Robin Sequence and a Chiari malformation I, he has also had 5 surgeries including the brain surgery. Together we have had 10 surgeries, 18 specialists at Riley Hospital, 8 therapists, and well over 30 hospital stays. When my 4 year old was in the NICU, that is when I decided my degree in computer programming wasn't going to be put to use. I wanted to be a nurse. Finally 4 years later we are down to 8 doctors and 3 therapies a week, so I have time to be back in school! Leanne
  2. Add me to the list! I am enrolled in ANP101 at Ivy Tech for a Saturday class which is all day, and on a waiting list for a class that equal ANP101 and 102 at IUPUI for an all day Sunday class. If I get in to the IUPUI (I am 3rd on the list so I am sure I will) then I will drop the ones at Ivy Tech. I would rather get it all done in one semester.
  3. Ok I see who you have, last i check there were still openings. I have to wait for them to process my paperwork before i can enroll! Maybe we will have class together!
  4. Which teacher did you sign up with? I am signing up for that same class!
  5. Good idea with the pictures!!! Did you take a camera or use your phone? Did people think you were nuts!
  6. Thank you all so much! I was planning to get my books early! It will be my only class so I will have time to study. I am a stay at home mom to 2 children with special needs, so I have nap time to study and then in the evenings when my husband is home. I REALLY want to do good in this class. Any suggestions on materials that you found handy? Besides highlighters and the norm? I am excited, I have been wanting to go to school for nursing since my son was born in 2002 with a rare genetic disorder. Now that he is down to only 8 specialists and in pre-school I finally have the time! I have a degree in computer programming currently, but am ready for the chalenge of nursing! Leanne - who's youngest just had his 5th surgery yesterday to make 10 surgeries total between my two boys!
  7. Ok so I am a tad nervous and it doesn't start until january! i think i have decided to take the 5 cedit anatomy class at IUPUI which counts for anp101 and anp102 at ivy tech which is where i am enrolled at. It is on sundays with lecure 9 to noon and lab from 1 to 4 or something. any suggestions on materials and stuff to help in this all day class? Thanks!
  8. I know there is an Anatomy Class at IUPUI that you can take there instead of taking 2 ANP classes at Ivy Tech. I am considering doing this in the Spring 2007, that would allow me to apply to the Nursing school in the Fall of 2007 instead of January 2008. Does anyone have any information on this? One better then the other? extremely harder? Or just do the IUPUI and knock them both out at once? Also, this would be my only class I would be taking. Thanks! Leanne
  9. I went to the information session at the Indy campus, and even though they only 70 for the fall this year, they also had a grant for night classes. Next year they said maybe 30 for spring '07 and then maybe 60 by fall '07 after the students that are currently following the "old" program graduate they will be able to accept MORE into the nursing program. I am only going part-time and won't apply for nursing until january '08 and they are hoping by that time they will be able to accept 60 to 90 people. They had 175 applicants for the fall of '06 and accepted 70, if you don't get into the ASN program they send you an app. for the LPN track. I also have a B in English and the advisor told me not to retake it and hopefully will just do good in the other 3 classes and it shouldn't make too much of a difference since they will be able to take more students in the years to come. But I am also only going part-time!
