someone please help me...i need some support
Hang in there... I took the test on Monday and am still waiting on my results. My exam sounded very much like yours, as well as many others that have responded in the forum. I know exaclty how you are feeling, and it definately has helped to read others posts. Try to keep yourself busy and avoid looking up answers, that is my best advice...I looked up answers and it made me feel even worse. I'm rooting for you!

Vermont ATT
In VT you get you temporary GN license for 90 days, during which time you also have to take you NCLEX. Hope this helps

higher/lower end questions
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows what are considered "higher end" and "lower end" questions. I just took the NCLEX today and I seriously left feeling like 80% of my exam was either a medication or priority questions, but then I would randomly get a infection control question.... so it's hard for me tell how I might have done. My exam shut off at 75 questions...any thoughts?? Thanks.

Cardiology or Cardiothoracic Surgery?...help?
Thank you for the great advice and encouragement. Right now I am leaning towards the cardiology unit because I feel like it will give me a better "medical" experience, where the pts may have other underlying medical problems besides cadiac. Plus the orientation seems like it is just a little more structured. However I am nervous about the high volume of pt discharges and admissions, although as long as there is a 4:1 ratio I guess it doesn't mak etoo much of a difference. Both managers on both units seem very supportive so I don't feel as thow I will be thrown out to the wolves if I am not ready. Thank you so much!

Cardiology or Cardiothoracic Surgery?...help?
Hi everyone, I could use some help. I just graduated this May from nursing school. Today I had two great interviews that both turned into job offers by the end of the day. One on a 50 bed cardiology unit with high pt turnover rate. The other on a 21 bed Cardiothoracic-Surgical Unit where the pts stay a little longer. I liked both units very much, they both have a 4:1 ratio which is great. I have made a pros and cons list but I am still having trouble deciding what would be the best fit and offer me the best experience as a new grad. I would appreciate any advice or insight you might have to offer. Thank you!

Need some tips on cardiovascular nursing
Hi there, I am graduating from nursing school in May and this week I am interviewing on a cardio vascular surgical floor. I was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice for me that might help me SHINE during my interview. I really want to work on this floor since I've heard they offer a great new grad experience. The floor is mainly comprised of cardiac and vascular surgeries...does anyone out there work on a floor similar to this? Thank you ahead of time for all your help :)

Need some help....Moving to Elmira Area
Hi! I am moving to the Elmira, NY area and was wondering if anyone could tell me about the hospitals in the area? I have done some research but appreciate the advice and information others may have to offer. I have also researched hospitals in Binghamton and Ithaca which I know would be a commute. But I figure if the hospitals are better in that area I wouldn't mind. I was also wondering what the starting salary is for hospitals in this area? What places might be good to start looking for apartments. As you can see I am starting from scratch and I don't know very much about the area at all. Please help if you can!! Thank you so much :)

Moving to Pittsburgh
Hi, In May of this year, I will graduate from the Salem State College in Salem, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. There is a good possibility I will be relocating to the Pittsburgh area after graduation. I am looking to find out more information regarding the nursing opportunities for new graduates in the Pittsburgh area. I have just begun my online search, and I know West Penn has multiple facilities throughout the Pittsburgh area. I would be moving somewhere in the area of Moon Township or Coraopolis. Could anyone tell me which hospitals have good reputations and or look to hire new graduates? Which hospitals in the area offer strong new graduate opportunities? Starting salaries, if you know? Also, when should I begin applying ? I have emailed one nursing recruiter from West Penn, but I have not yet heard back. I would even appreciate tips on apartment searches, which areas are the best. I need to keep a somewhat close commute to the Robert Morris campus since my boyfriend will be working there. Thank you so much for your time and help!

Endoscopy nursing
Really I like the surgical day care aspect of it where you get to be part of the three step process of bringing the patient in/interview, following him/her through their procedure and then seeing him/her go home along with patient teaching.
