  1. Congratulations Nora! I know what you mean about the paperwork... We had 4 days to get our paperwork in and we had a month to get our other stuff taken care of (physicals, immunization records, etc.)
  2. I start nursing school next week and my friend and I both bought the Littman Cadiology III from allheart.com. Steeles is very slightly cheaper, but all heart will personalize your tubing for $15 so we got our names put on our steths.
  3. For physiology we used the Marieb book. I don't remember what it was called. It was the most recent edition and it had a co-author (My physio teacher said that Marieb is probably getting ready to retire soon since she now has a co-author for the newest edition). The CD that comes with it is wonderful!
  4. At our school we get to wear medium blue scrubs, in the brand of our choice. We also have to have a knee length white lab coat, which we get to when/if we want. And white shoes.
  5. Happy New Year. At least you aren't the only one. I'm sick, too
  6. Yeah, the last week was agonizing! Our school goes my a mathematical formula dealing with GPA, Anat-micro-physio GPA, Eng 1A GPA and you lose tons of points for repeating Anat, micro or physio. We all get assigned a percentage and there are 65 spots, so the school takes the top 65 people and that's where they set the "cut score". My grades were high enough that I really shouldn't have worried nearly as much as I did but I was nervous. Our school posts the rankings on the Nursing bulletin board. The word was that it would be posted Tuesday night (nov. 14), then it was supposed to go up Wed morning, and then it was "hopefully by Wed at 4:30". So, I called back at 4:00 Wednesday and they said they were posting it at 4:30 so I jumped in the car and took the longest drive in my life! a 30 min drive has never felt SO long. I wanted to vomit and cry at the same time. It was awful! Luckily my friend met me there and we went up to see the list together and we both got in!
  7. Our ADN (RN) program application period for Delta Community College, in Stockton CA was from Sept. 1 to Oct. 16. So I was there to wait in line an hour before the office opened on Sept. 1 and we found out on Nov. 15. So, those of us that turned our app. in on the first day had to wait about 10 weeks. It sure was a long 10 weeks though, especially when it got down to that last week of waiting when we knew they were going to be posting the results any day.
  8. Congratulations Ryan! I was wondering about you the other day...I'm glad to hear you made it in. I figured you would!
  9. Congratulations JaxiaKiley. I know you must be just as excited as the rest of us now!
  10. Turbohound, Yep. I go to SJDC. It sucks being out of district, huh? I had an 82%, but luckily I am in-district so I got in. I'm hoping you'll get in,too!
  11. At my school there are 9 sections for Nursing 1 and Nursing 2 and we get to choose which one we want. We can sign up at our designated registration date/time and whichever classes still have openings, we can sign up for. I have 2nd day registration so my first choice was full, so I had to sign up for my second choice.
  12. nurse2b_amy, Are you in the program already?
  13. Ryan, I'm sure you'll get in! Mary Neville said that last time there were 5 out of district people that all had 91% and of course they all got accepted to schools closer to where they live so they didn't want their spots. So, since you're only #2 you have really good chances! When will you find out? l Wheat, Where are you doing your clinicals at?
  14. I got accepted to Delta College in Stockton, CA. It's a Community College. Our semester starts on Jan. 16, but we have a breakfast and some other things to attend before then.
  15. Congratulations tntech1. I know how excited you must be!
  16. Congrats to everyone else who got in. My school posted the list on Wednesday afternoon and I GOT IN!! It was a nice birthday present. My school goes by a mathematical formula using total GPA, Eng 1A GPA, Anat,Micro,Physio combined GPA, and you lose like 8% for every repeat of anat, micro, or physio. The highest possible is 91% and I had an 82%. This semester the cut score was 78%. I am so excited and relieved at the same time!!
  17. Yay!!! Congratulations and good luck with the program! I'll be finding out on Tuesday...
  18. That's the best thing to do, especially when you can't get in to see a counselor. I learned everything I needed to know at the informational meeting. Good Luck!! It sounds like you're headed in the right direction.
  19. Yeah, I know how that goes...At my college we had 1 health science counselor and it was nearly impossible to get an appointment with him. Just be persistent and do well on your pre-reqs. Does your school have any informational meetings? I orginally met the health science counselor because our school has infomational meetings every monday regarding the health science programs.
  20. I'm sorry to hear that. I can't imagine how devastating that must be. And for those of us still waiting, as Simon Birch would say, "Time is a monster that cannot be reasoned with, it responds like a snail to our impatience and races like a gazelle when you can't catch your breath."
  21. The acceptance procedures vary from school to school. You should really meet with a counselor and they will be able to fill you in on all the details.
  22. Thanks for the well wishes! Yeah, normally a week flies by, but at this crucial time the week is going to drag by! That's why I'm trying to waste away the rest of this week...
  23. Is anyone else still waiting to find out if they got accepted for Spring '07? I've been waiting for 2 months and the ranking list will be posted next Tuesday (Nov. 14) I am so nervous! All I can do is think about ways to make the rest of this week fly by.... Any suggestions? My birthday is November 12 so getting in would be the best birthday present! :balloons:
  24. My school is 72%
  25. I'm waiting too. We had a 6 week application period and today was the last day! I turned mine in on the first day so I've been waiting for 6 weeks. Results should be posted in mid-November so I'm more than halfway there. I have another 4 weeks to wait...I hate waiting but I have a friend who still has 2 pre-reqs left and she's envious of me so I guess it's not so bad...
