  1. I work as an out pt nurse in a rural area, for mental health ... im the only nurse in this program....and to reply to one of the other ,,,,,so the state pharmacy board would be the one that would be able to help me come up with a way that would be acceptable you think . thank you all so much ,,,,
  2. Im it in the program that we have there are 3 other nurse with their own progarms and we dont see each othe on a daily basis ... my meds are delivered from a local pharmacy such as a cvs .... i count when they come in and each time i have to open them ...and then once a month one of the other nurse counts with me our police does not fit the situation thats why i have to coem up with one that will make every one happy some how before we get inspected by state etc
  3. I am the only nurse in a small rural communty psyc setting on out pt setting ... i need to come up with a policy that will cover my tale i have another nurse once a month count with me. but i dont have one every time im into my countables but i do keep count any ideas or suggestions ?
  4. i worked with a nurse in a psyc unit inpatient that had a diagnosis of bipolar .... she was a super nurse and a wonderful psyc nurse .. if its what you love and what you do best then you ll be fine ... she has moved on to travel nursing now and she still works in psyc...
  5. it can be done but i will tell you from experience everyone sacerfices/suffers...im telling you though by the time i graduated that if i would have had to go through the stress of taking one ,more test , missed my kids one more minute i would have quit .. and i had all the support of my kids my parents and my husband ... and with all that i nearly lost my mind ....be prepared to feel like a horrible mother , wife , and person cause while your in school there is no time to be all that you need to be .. i also worked weekends friday saturday and sunday ....the entire time i went to school .....so unless your superwoman fulltime is out of the question it was for me but there was ones in school that did work full time and school full time but had no kids ......i dont want to scare you from nursing, just be prepared for a long hard ride ...i can tell if its what you really want then its very possible to do and can be done .....good luck......i graduated a year ago in may ,,, so its all still to familar to me and how i felt.....

I have to do an inservice on falls... i work in a geriatric psyc unit our fall #'s have been up so there was a group of us picked to be on a fall task force and do some research on how other facilities deal with falls ? one big question was if you walk in and find a patient on the floor lying sitting etc with no apparrent injury is this considered a fall and do you document as such...and the other question was all of our patient are of course high risk for falls because our patients are 65 and older and most are on some sort of psychotropic medication..but how do other facilities differentiate between higher risk than others so that all staff know OH hey i need to watch close if i see this patient up and about? well this is my delemma .. and my first in service to present......so an and all help will be greatly apprreciated .....Thanks tina
