Forrest, congrats on getting into CRNA school, that is awesome! I am starting an accelerated BSN this May and I plan on going to nurse anesthetist school soon after that, hopefully. My question is how did you get your manager to write you a letter of rec even though you had only worked in the ICU for 3 months or so at that point. That is the problem that I think I will run into if I try to apply after a year. By the way, did you go to the "W"? I think there was a Forrest in one of my classes and you are in MS. Not too many Forrests' out there. Congrats again! SC

I am also starting this May. I am getting this in order to move to Chicago. I actually am more stressed about the logistics of getting to Chicago and not the program. Let me know if you hear anything else about the program. I had to email Sasha so many times to verify that I had a spot in the program. I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet about the financial aid stuff yet. Good luck... Scott

Hello all, wanted to know if there was anyone else out there that is starting the accelerated BSN at Loyola starting this May? I am officially starting the program in May ans was looking for potential classmates. SC

Scrubs, Sorry to hear that you did not get in to either. I actually was accepted to two other schools and have decided to go to Loyola in Chicago. I don't know if I would have even accepted the spot if I would have been accepted to the ETP? The thought of picking up and moving to NYC in 2 months is pretty scary! I applied to the anesthesia specialty and I thought I was a good candidate. I did not do so hot on the GRE but I have an undergrad in Chem and a PharmD. I guess I wasn't what they were looking for. So, now I will have to complete an accelerated BSN and work for a year or two and reapply to anesthesia programs in Chicago. Did you have a backup plan? Congrats again to all. Scott

Well, I got my letter today and I guess I am the first one who did not get accepted. But that is okay. I was applying for the anesthesia specialty and I know it is ultra-competitive. Good luck to all of you in your future careers. Scott

Are you saying this because it is "convenient" that all of the people on allnurses that received the email have been accepted? I think I am going to call tomorrow if I do not receive my letter in the mail tonight when I get home and explain that I need to know ASAP! I could potentially lose my place in my back-up school because I have not sent in the $350 acceptance fee (NON-REFUNDABLE)! They could just as easily send the acceptance letters by email. It is getting a bit frustrating and it would have been nice to have gotten a conformation email stating that the letters were not sent out on the 1st like promised in several other emails. Just ranting.... Congrats again to everyone SC

I called the school earlier today and asked if the admission letters were sent and the guy said that they went out today. It would be nice to get the denial/acceptance already! I have 2 other schools that I got accepted to that are filling up and I don't want to send in 500 bucks in NON-Refundable deposits! I am hoping to get mine by Thursday. Good luck to everyone.... SC

AJ, I also got accepted for the May 08' start as well and I am more than likely going to be attending there. I am waiting to hear from one more school before I send in my acceptance. There is a Loyola grad name Chris who I spoke with about the program and he had nothing but good things to say about it. If you apply to those other programs would you be sitting out another year? Chris was saying that the Loyola program has been around for a really long time and they have their stuff together. He did say that the clinical rotations for Loyola are done throughout the Chicago area whereas Rush tends to do their clinicals at Rush only (at least I think that is what he said). Also, I applied to a couple of other programs and there is a really good school in Philly called Thomas Jefferson University (FACT) and the application process is pretty simple and the GRE is not required! It is also a direct entry MSN if you want to continue after the BSN portion. I like that school a lot but Chicago will be a better fit for me and my wife. Once again, good luck... Scott

I am not in the program yet. I got accepted for the may 08' start and I am still waiting to hear back from 1 other school before I send in my deposit. I don't really know that much about the program. I have seen some other posts about the program and there seems to be a mix of ideas on how it is. Just search on this site for the Loyola ABSN and you will find a couple of people that talk about the program. Mostly they talk about how $$$ it is. Let me know if you have other questions. SC

I called the main number (773.508.3249) and asked to speak to someone about the ABSN. I think I ended up talking to Sasha. She did all of my transcripts, etc. I have not had a problem contacting them in the past; however, I was calling back in Oct/Nov. Are you looking to start this May? Hey Blondi, I am not sure what the deadline is for the summer 08' start. You could call the school and see if the application process is still open. I actually interviewed last Friday and they offered me a spot, so maybe there are other seats available? The application process at TJU is pretty easy and as other people have mentioned earlier, I was impressed at how easy it was. Also, Danielle in the admissions office is great. As far as GPA goes, I think mine was 3.5ish and I did not submit GRE scores. Good luck to you and let me know if you have any other questions with the application process. SC

So I went and had my interview with Danielle yesterday, which was really laid back. I thought the interview went well and I got back into denver yesterday and saw that she had already sent my acceptance email. So, I guess I have to make a big decision here in the next month! For the above poster, I did not have to submit GRE scores (thank God) but I think that having a higher GRE score, and good grades in the prerequisites could offset the low overall GPA. They put your grades into a spreadsheet and separate them into science GPA and overall GPA. And like Jersey said, I think the science GPA is more important. Did you alreay apply for the 2008 May start? Scott

Alright you guys I am flying out in the morning to go to Philadelphia, so wish me luck. It sounds like it doesn't take very long to hear back as to whether you are offered a spot or not. So hopefully I will hear back soon and can make a decision. SC

There use to be information on the School of Nursing website about that scholarship with Jefferson Health system, but I can't seem to find it any more. Congrats on getting accepted. My interview is next Friday. Scott

I actually talked to Danielle on the phone to schedule an interview, and she never mentioned that a phone interview was an option. Plus, it will be nice to see the school and the area as well. I have only been to Philly once, and that was for a wedding in Wilmington, DE, which was uber ghetto (Wilmington)! Thanks again for the info. SC

I guess I should see if I get accepted before I start ratling off my plans! But I think that I would just work afterwards and take some masters classes part-time so that when I did start, the burden would be less. I talked to Danielle about this and she said that it was no problem to take the masters core courses while working. She seems very nice and it sounds like the program is very organized. Congratulations Jerseygirl, is TJU your first choice? Are you going to continue into the masters part of the FACT program? If so, what specialty? Byrd, I did go to an info session at Columbia and I think it was somewhat helpful only if you had looked at the website. Some of the people there seemed like they just wandered into the room, not even knowing where they were or what they were there for. I mean some people had great questions and recieved great answers, but then some people asked things that were blatantly on the website. All in all, I am glad that I flew out to NYC (from CO) for the session. I bombed the GRE though, so I don't know how competitive my application will be. Congrats again Jerseygirl... SC

I have my interview at Jefferson on the 18th of January and I think it is going to be pretty informal. I talked to Danielle on the phone and she seems to be pretty laid back. I asked what the dress code was and she said "casual", so I don't plan on wearing a suite or anything like that. Byrd, did you go to an info session at Columbia? Good luck to you guys..... SC

No, you are married so you will not have to claim your parents income. I think Oscar said that the girls who did not receive the scholarships parents were worth millions. However, after hearing Elizabells talk about the disorganization of the financial aid dept, I am a bit worried. SC

I also received an email from Oscar about the FAFSA form. It has been a while since I have completed one of those! The thought of taking out like 50 k for school is a bit scary, but I guess you have to do what you have to do. I am wondering if pretty much everyone will get the 30k scholarship? I will end up making a good bit this year, but of course next year (if I get accepted) you basically will not be working much at all. I asked about this at the info session and Oscar said that the only people who did not qualify for the scholarship were students who were under the age of 25 and had to claim their parents assets. He also said that unless you have a ton of assets, than you will more than likely qualify for the 30k! Good luck to everyone... SC
