Hi everybody, I'm now waiting for a call for an interview and I heard that at the interview they ask this question. I been thinking about it.... For me nursing is a science of caring for others. We take care of patients and encourage them to be as involve as possible in their care. (autonomy) The family is also part of the patient system so they should be also considered in the care....We are responsable of the prevention and promotion of health as we do some teaching to the patient so that after he can make inform choices. We are the voice of the patient at all time. (advocacy). I like you guys to share what is your philosophy of nursing. So what do you think?

I was nursing my 1 month old son watching the TV and then a special report came. I could not beleive that it was happening. I was devasteted.I was looking at my son and wondering in what world I brought him into. Still to this day, I watched a documentry 9/11 last night on TV and I was crying and still can't believe that somebody could do such a terrible act. So many lives destroyed. There was some extraordinary stories of survival also that was unbeleivable.

Hey, I tought I would answer a little something. The book we use at our shool is Community Nursing Promoting Canadians' Health by Miriam J. Stewart. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think a book could really had help us prepared for the community health's questions. They were kind a really weird questions. Sometimes I think that it helped me to know the different age developement like for each age group what are their needs of health education and what is the proper way to teach each group.

So, I will say it again this is a great forum. I like to share and read the threads. I do have a question is there a special time that the chat room gets more like popular??? I chated only one time but all the other time I went there was nobody there or that I missed somebody from just a couple minutes. Please somebody reply.

Hi Nurse Nightingale!! Thank you too be concern about me and what I been up too. I been trying too keep busy . Going out with friends, spending time with my husband ect..It help a little bit, but I don't feel that I'm really fun to be with.( I'm miserable) I still didn't receive my result. Everyday, I wait for the mail just to be disapointed over and over again because the big enveloppe is not there. I'm going camping this week-end coming up and I WILL have fun, well I'll try my best. Maybe when I come back, I will have my result. Hope everything is going well for you!!:)

I just graduate(took the summer off) and I got two children and for me, like you, I do not see myself on a med/sur floor. I whish I could work in the Public health or some kind of floor less crazy and fast. I'm in the thirties also and I feel this would be too much. My plan is to work only part-time. gentle02

Same for me . I had the epidural for my first baby but not for my second cause I refused it. I enjoy the second labor so much more. Like you said it was easier to be able to walk around instead of being stuck in bed. Also I felt much more in control and stronger.

From which province are you? NS ? I was just wondering to give me a idea to how long I still have to wait. Thank you

Hey dainty, I feel the same way about thinking about the positive stuff If I do fail. All the things I learn from it and how much stronger how will be . But like you'd said if I do have to re-take it I probably will go crazy. Just the wait GOT to make us more patient or something(crazy) . My husband thinks this wait is part of the test.LOL It's nice too know that I'm not alone in the situation. You took the summer off also and regreted it just like me( did we really regret it?) then you had nightmares failed and dreams passed and basically the Wait was realy long cause more time on our hand. Well, I can tell you that I got in trouble last year with my clinical teacher because I forgot to do so. I'm a grad nurse now and I will always try too remember to do so. It's important too secure it . We use velcro device.

I read the (rectangle) and summary in most of my books well the surgery one. Also I practice questions in some Manuel including Kaplan and also the Nurse Association one. I read 3000 Nursing bullets NCLEX-RN a nice book. Unfortunately I didn't study community health nursing (hated that course because of the teacher) I studied for a month but I find that it was not really worth it( well, I guess in a way yes but not to help me do the test) . Nothing would of prepared me enough for that Exam.
