Hi all, I'm considering Excelsior College to for my RN, I am already a LPN. I feel so over whelmed & nervous about a distance learning program. I have read really good & really bad things about this school. Unfortunately, I have to start from the very beginning as I do not even have pre-reqs in General Ed. EC is not listed on the BON's web site as an approved school but EC swears they are! Please help me understand this. I am in Pinellas County Florida (Seminole/Clearwater) area. Has anyone had to do their pre-reqs in Gen. Ed. through EC? If so, can you give me a run down of how you did it & what you thought of the program? I'm quite confused as the gen. ed requirements for EC are slightly different from the local college here. EC does not require a math course but the local college says it IS required as a pre req. This is a lot of money to spend so I want to be sure it is legit. All answers are greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly

Hi Tweety- Thanks for the info. I did get some info on Galen. They are very expensive. ($17,100.) How is your friend doing in this school? I work with a girl who did her LPN at Galen and started the RN but dropped it just 6 weeks into the program. She said it was to much trying to learn the pre-reqs and the nursing all at once. I do not have my pre-reqs done and this is why I thought Galen would be a great school but now I'm not so sure.

Galen quoted me $17,100. for the R.N. program with the pre-recs inclusive in that price. I think this is expensive. I was told by a another lpn I work with that the program is hard & only two people passed boards from the first graduating class. She made it through 6 weeks and could not keep up. This is a tough decision to make. I will have to do more research.
