I know for sure Children's hosp. Los Angeles only takes BSN into their residency program but as soon as the baby boomer's start to retire the demand will shoot up again and everyone will be hurting for RN's.

I would get out of there! i wouldn't want my loved one under that type of care because people will be cutting corners to get done. As an LVN myself refuse to work under those types of conditions and why do people boast about how many patients they have, I guarantee those patients aren't getting the best care possible. And regarding med techs who's license are they under yours or ? So if they make a med error on the patient your charting on and the patient dies your up a creek without a paddle.

yes thier are listings for state cna positions but at chino they wont hire a state cna. its easier to have registry whom are easier to control. if you give them a hard time they just "dnr" you for any reason, a state employee is very hard to fire just my personal belief from observations.

I have not met a state CNA at chino they do use registry CNA's through right choice and preferred agencies. They are mostly used for suicide watches, you sit in front of a "suicidal" inmates door for 8 to 16 hours with very few breaks.

If they don't require exp go for it mine required 1 year as an LVN to get in. Honestly I think the exp only made clinicals easier that's about it.

Sorry this is funny as an LPN I'm not taking orders from any unlicensed nursing student. I am also an RN student and if you can't do total care on two med surg patients you need to choose a different profession.

Only 28K? why not a junior college its like $1500 for lvn to rn. I took the pre-reqs and applied, I only waited 6 months to get in. At the moment I dont see the need for the BSN, where I work an RN with an AS makes 8500 month and an RN with a BSN makes 8500 month.

The two agency's Chino prison uses most is preferred and right choice.

i work for cdcr and we don’t get days off what happens is your monthly base pay is reduced by the current 3 days (soon maybe 4) which is 24 hours and the time is placed on the books which you can use later like a forced vacation bank lol. you must use them by august 2010 i think that’s the date. people are really upset and are starting to call in sick in masses and using the furlough time which kind of bad for us that show up because we have to get redirected to cover the open spots.

california corrections in chino does not hire new grads.

well i'm certain about it where i work which is a desirable location, you know near civilization. we have a couple lvns that just got their rn license but the prison won't give them an rn position until they have a year experience as an rn. so what they are doing is still working full time as state lvn's but also part time as an rn elseware until they have the one year experience kind of crazy i think but guess they really want to stay there. maybe some of the prisons out in the boonies might take new grads but i'm not sure. i would still recommend starting at a hospital with a good preceptorship because to tell you the truth you won't learn anything in the prison you will actually loose skills.

I can't speak for all the California prisons but most of them dont hire new grads you need at least 1 year experience to be considered. There is no preceptor ship or training in place for a new grad and to be honest the environment is not new grad friendly. As for pay RNs here easily average 110k year with OT.
