I am in a rn program and i am a new lpn as of june 2011, i went straight from lpn schol to lpn to rn transition and now in the rn program, so needless to sayi didn't go o work i want my rn license and being an older student i am 51 and i feel that my instructors feel that i should know more just because i have a title of lpn. This makes me feel very insecure and awkward at times, i don't think this is fair what does everyone else think?

Hi, I will be attending mercy lpn to rn transition in aug 2011 in order to go into the rn program. Can someone tell me about their smoking policy and can we go off of mercy property to smoke without being reprimanded? Also how is the lpn to rn transition course? I also have a choice to go to CCAC in which i passed their lpn to rn transition course but mercy would not except it. Or can someone recommend Mercy or CCAC nursing program. Please help!!!

Ok thanks, still need to get my books this will give me time on Monday since they are closed Saturday and only opened til 4 thru the week.

I know we have to have the one for allegheny but i am in the same boat i don't know where i will be either. I might call tuesday to find out for sure.

yep,just wear white don't know what to exspect for clinicals. the syllabus looks really involved but it could be just me because just being a newly graduated lpn with no exsperience. Don't know what TW stands for regarding the clinicals.

I think you can take it with the other nsg. classes, but just check with a advisor.

Thats not fair because students going into the august 2011-2013 don't need their stuff done til the 1st part of august, how can they exspect this when you only got paper work the other day i got mine prob. around may 1st? specially if were not having any clinical ti l august i just don't understand?

hey christina, glad to see you got your stuff do you know for sure when we have to have all this stuff completed? At first Mrs. Kennen told me june 1st and i think my paper says it all needs done by may 23 and must be hand delivered. I am hoping i have enough time, I go for my physical tomorrow and I guess Dr. wil give me a script for titers and start the tb test. need to get all this done by the 16th because going on vacation.

christine i have all my sciences done i usually go to boyce and sometimes i go to allegheny. I want to know when do we go for uniforms and stuff like books or do they wait till we pass the lpn to rn course and then tell us where we are placed and the other info. The way i take it is we dont have to do the 101 and 102 nursing courses we will just jump into the 202 course and so on and grad in may 2012. but i dont know if this is right.

That is crazy because you need physical, shots, clearances and drug panel tests and they want all this by june 1st i think. what about uniforms for after this course when we go into the August class semester or will they wait till the last minute?

Hi christina, CCAC doesn't tell you much I just graduated in feb from lpn school and so I'm kind of afraid I really don,t have any exsperience and i dont know what to exspect. So i guess we don't order any uniforms for August rn class till we pass this class but we have to do all of the other stuff like shots and clearances. I am really confused, hope someone can shed some light on this.

thanks aubie, i got a letter stating i would know by the 1st week of june. I just want to know so i can get everything in order. like physicals and clearances and what financial aid steps to take. I've also applied to ccac just waiting to hear any kind of news, this is very nerve racking.

hi are you doing the lpn to rn transition? I am and it's taken forever to get any answers. I applied the first week of April because i graduated from lpn school on feb. 25 and passed boards on april 1st. tried several times and left Amber several messages, finally today I called dean of nursing Mrs. Keenan and she said that Amber was out on vacation all this week and they would be mailing out letters this week. do you have any info on this nursing program?

How did you get Amber to call you i can't get a hold of her and left her several messages ? i might have to try and get hold of the dean of nursing. I am a newly graduated lpn and applied for lpn to rn and today got a letter stating they wondered why i haven't applied because my gpa was above 2.5 and i have more than 30 credits, this is confusing. I also graduated in my lpn class as valedictorian. anybody got any answers for this?

i hope someone can help me, ok i did my report my instructor is questioning me on my cardiovascular description, this is what i wrote:from 11/11 to 11/25 client's pulse ranged from 76-70b.pm. right radial pulse was +3 and left pulse was weaker with +1 and thready. heart rate is 82 and regular, no complaints of chest pain or sob, client states she feels fatigued at certain times of the day.. no weight gain or loss since being admitted into facility. client's b.p. from 11/11- 11/25 has ranged from 166/98 to 170/110. nail beds are incurvated and impede the skin. the mucous membranes in oral cavity are dry and without lesuions. no clubbing in nailbeds are noted and no edema is observed in the periphery or in the sacral areas. No calf tenderness when foot is flexed, neg. homan's sign; client does exsperience slight pain in the popliteal area due to arthritic joints. no distribution of hair on the lower extremities or on the toes, and no vericose veins are noted. clients pulse oximetry is 96% on room air. client has a history of diabetes mellitus and hypertension and hyperlipidemia and a past medical history of a CVA. ok this is what i wrote can someone help me? also for my nursing dx i chose the following- ineffective tissue perfusion r/t decreased cardiac output aeb decreased peripheral pulses & cap. refill > 3secs.- disturbed sensory perception: visual r/t pathology of diabetes aeb client states " i can only see shadows"" and my last dx was risk for infection r/t a high glucose level of 489 on admission to the e.r. so can someone please help me!!!!

hi , thanks, i just interviewed yesterday and i start in their new class on march 1st. i hope it is alittle easier than the rn program i was in, i think i should have started with the lpn program first, let me know what it's like, and how are the clinicals? thanks mary

can some one help with care plan i seem to never satisfy my instructor. my pt is 89 she is diagnosed with orthostatic dizziness, hypotension, her past medical hx consists of iddm, peripheral neuropathy, dementia, mi, chf, ashd, gerd, cad, cardiomyopathy,syncope, bladder suspension,urinary retention, urinary incontinence, uti, hysterectomy,sinus surgeryu,left lumpectomy, chronic atrial fib, anemia, meds she is on is alomide, coumadin, prilosec, tyelenol tab, vit b12 miralax coreg, novolog, lantus chest xray showed enlarged heart without congestion,gluc.143,bun 21, creat 0.8,gfr >60, na 143, k 4.3,cl 111,co2 26,hco3 25 agap 16, sed rate 46, troponin 20tsh 4.070, rbc 3.87, pt had decreased breath sounds, dizzy, nauseated, headache , pedal pulses were a +2, confused can some one help me with this? thanks Mary

Hi, Does anyone know if the state of arizona excepts nursing license from pa? I am starting nursing school in august 2008, and i am planning on moving to arizona when i graduate in 2010. And if not is there some way i can take a combined boards test, so that i would'nt have to take it once i get to arizona? thanks k98, Is the math part in nursing hard to grasp in nursing? I don't really know the metric system and i am kinda concerned about that? I finished all of my a&p courses and microbiology at ccac.
