First Reinke Exam @ TWU
It's all a part of the process. Tear you down and build you back up. Im with Reinke. Ive heard too many good stories from current CRNAs. He is an award winning professor/physiologist. If he changed his lecture at all it would be less and our knowledge base would be less. TWU grads can go toe to toe with most Medical Students in the taught subject matter. He even has a lecture hall named after him. The guy is hands down the BEST lecturer ive ever had the pleasure of hearing. Thanks all for your support. Yeah the drama is a bit much. Especially after 100 thousands of debt and a military commentment. Was completely overwhelming to get that failing grade. Over 50 % of the class made below the passing 83 percent. It's the famous "oh ****" moment. Now i have to study harder, which means I have to know my stuff better, which means Ill be a better CRNA. And if I dont....well then the school has a plan for me, but its all in making me better not so much a failure. Anyone coming to TWU be ready. Start out fast and strong. Be prepared for a test over the previous lecture everytime you come to class. (something I failed to do.) Its hard, but they have it down to a science and are creative in ways to make it obtainable. Not easy, but obtainable.

First Reinke Exam @ TWU
Just checking if there are any TWU alumni out there that can give me some guidance or info on Reinke's class. I just got my Raw score back on the first test. There will probably be at least a little bit of a curve. Not much though. I did horribly. Not even a C. Im scared to death. The lowest passing grade for the program is an 83. My average from all classes going into this test was an 86. (just floating). I have too much riding on this to fail out. already 60k in debt and I even joined the Army reserve to help financially. I feel like puking. G

"PRIVATE/ALTERNATIVE" LOANS for SRNAs
Good news in the loan world! Mr President just signed a bill that will bring back all of the loan programs that went *poof* recently. I hope this will allow for more competition among lenders and lower interest for us. Here is the link to the article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/bloomberg/20080507/pl_bloomberg/ayvur_x5vpca

"PRIVATE/ALTERNATIVE" LOANS for SRNAs
Wells Fargo is 5 plus prime. I havent taken out the other two yet. My school is still negotiating with chase (its supposed to be outside the coa). So steepish rates and they are variable too. Im doing the Army Reserve thing so about 80k of it will be taken care of. Im hoping whoever I work for after school will pay another 30k or so of it. Best Wishes, Gman SRNA

"PRIVATE/ALTERNATIVE" LOANS for SRNAs
Hit a snag on the Chase Private Loan. The most they can loan is 17800 based on what the school certifies as the cost of attendance. So I called the Financial Aid Office and asked if I could take out a loan from 2 or 3 different lenders to reach my needed amount and they said yes. So Ill take some from Wells Fargo (they dont care what your school sets as a limit), Sallie Mae and Chase. Between the 3 of them I should get what I need.

2015 is it official? YES
The same thing happened with Pharmacists recently. Since Pharm Ds, Ive witnessed Pharmacists playing a larger clinical role. Ive seen their salaries increase along with demand. The same may be true with CRNAs. I think it is a good change and will be nothing but beneficial to the field.

"PRIVATE/ALTERNATIVE" LOANS for SRNAs
Wells Fargo and Chase both offer alternative loans that dont have to be certified by the school. Wells fargo will give you 25k per year at a decent interest rate. Chase will give you 40k per year, but the interest rate is variable and CAN be as high as 12 %. My question is since the Ft worth programs are 28 months, which is two full years and part of a third year, would the disbursement be the same for the third year? Or would I have to take out all the loans I needed the first two years and make them stretch to the 3rd. I know the Stafford or Grad Plus (not sure which) is a 3 year disbursement, but even so do they disburse the same amount every year? Gman

2015 is it official? YES
Texas Wesleyan is shooting to launch their Doctorate as entry level CRNA as early as 2012. A TWU rep spoke of it at the job fair that I attended on campus last week.

"PRIVATE/ALTERNATIVE" LOANS for SRNAs
I just got approved for my Federal Loans through TWU. I dont have the information in front of me, but the amounts were like 22500 and 162000 per year. The Grad Plus is for 24 months of the 28 month program, but the Stafford is for a 3 year period. I guess they mean the extra 4 months. What I didnt ask, and some of you might know, Is for those last 4 months will i get a full years disbursement or some prorated portion of the 22500 that i was approved for? Thanks, GMan

Who's going to Anesthesia school?
Thanks all! Lifelong clear your PM storage. I wanted to PM you the details about the late call. Anyway I emailed TWU on Sunday saying that I wanted to change my application status to "go anywhere". Previously it was Ft Worth only. Less than 48 hours later I got the call! Yay huh?

TWU Attrition Rate?
Hey CN, not at all to be rude, but I remember the video at TWU and J. Martin saying (in my interview) that it was just over 10%. If that should somehow occur then they let you take classes over the next year for a discounted tuition. TCU is the one who said that the attrition is just under 5%.

TCU or U Penn?
Ditto. :)-

Maymay, Congrats! I would tell TWU that you have other interviews and will tell them yes or no at the very first possible oppotunity. Just take the time you need to decide and then follow through. If you interview elsewhere, get accepted, and then decline TWU it may open doors for others wanting to get in. Dont feel rushed, but once you have all of your offers on the table give your answer to all involved parties expiditiously.

Fort Worth CRNA Programs
Havent a clue as what the turn around is. My app was complete way back in august. I bet its pretty short at this stage of the game. Im sure they want to have everything wrapped up asap. Id give it to the end of November. The staff is really nice so, after ample time, a phone call to the office would be ok Im sure.

Fort Worth CRNA Programs
Im just hoping to be accepted by "a" program. Im not eeeeevven halfway as cocky to pick between the two at this point. The whole application process is quite humbling. Lol Ive prayed more in the last few months than I have in the last year. Gman

Senior SRNA Accepted to Medical School. Now what?
I think the MD would quench your thirst. My main comparison would be the time commitment compared to what would be gained. Things to consider are your end goals. How old are you? It would be Awesome to be a Dr and have that knowledge. Search your heart and see whats best for you. Huge...HUGE decision. Weigh it carefully. Make sure you will be absolutely satisfied of the outcome. You may decide to finish your CRNA training and then pursue the MD after it is completed. G
