  1. Thanks Vicky, Our Pharm book doesnt go into detail about IV meds not to give with arrythmias, PVC, Vfib, etc... Its like you said, the question needs to be more specific. Ill just ask her. Do you by any chance know of a good website that may cover some of this information. Thanks again Miichelle
  2. Thank you Steve for replying nicely to my question :) I know about digoxin and others, but im like you I dont know of any you cannot under no circumstances give.
  3. Im sorry to offend you. I have done research on this I have looked all day. I am sitting here with my study group, we are going thru every book we have. My study guide presented by my instructor says. What IV drugs should not be given to cardiac pts. Thats it no details of any kind. So I am NOT trying to just get answers without researching. I just needed help with this one question. Im am not out for a free ride believe me. I have have worked VERY hard, have got excellent grades and am in the honor society Dont be so quick to judge, as nurses that is a very important value!
  4. If anyone could tell me what IV meds cannot be given to Cardiac Patients, I would really appreciate it. I need to know this for a Pharm Final. Thanks Again Michelle
  5. Congradulations everybody!!!! Im so happy for all of you. GREAT JOB!!!!!!!
  6. It is the NV-THS (national vocational tecnical honor society, we qualify if we have a overall average of at least 95 after the first trimester. It is cheap, just 20 bucks to join. I was just wondering if they would ask us to do outside projects and things like that. Not that I would mind doing some, I just really pressed for time, with family, school and work, as Im sure about 90% of everyone else is going thru also. Thanks Jules :)
  7. Thanks guys, I needed to hear that badly.I can feel some of the stress starting leave me now. I guess i feel like I need to know SO much more than can be possibly covered in training. Its nice to hear about facilities that will help train and teach, and hopefully have really good co-workers I am the type of person who always over studies, and over prepares for EVERYTHING. I always feel like I have to completely ready for it all. I guess I will be getting over that soon enough:p Thanks again
  8. Oh I will for sure ask about med-surg. I know we are going to be doing peds. I just noticed some in my class are doing med-surg. a few are getting 3 weeks!!!!!!! It should have been split up better than that. I take everything in stride, thats one of my problems. I need to be more assertive, when my future career is on the line. Thanks for replying
  9. Ok, so i have to vent a little, My LPN class are going to be in clinicals for the next month, starting tommorrow. We recieved our schedule a month ago. I have made plans for child care, some clincals begin @ 5:30 am. I have been to all the places I was suppose to go to make sure I knew where they were. I was all set. Then today I was given a new clinical schedule. I am not going to be NOT 1 SINGLE place I was suppose to be and it starts tommorrow!!!!! I was going to get 2 full weeks of peds and 2 weeks of med-surg. Now all im doing is home health and city schools. grads K-5. The reason being is they needed people to help give hearing and vision test to all the school systems!!!!!!! Of course it will be fun and really easy, but I just feel ripped-off. All I have done so far is CNA stuff @ the LTC facility. We arent having clinicals again untill March and I suppose to graduate the end of April. I was really counting on getting training at the hospitals, I mean when I start working and someone ask me to insert a cath, what am I going to say. We dont have labs or dummy's at our school to practice on either, Im just getting really stressed out about it......... Thanks for letting me vent.......it helps to get it out. I try to tell my hubby but he doesnt understand. I know all of you can relate. Thanks again Michelle
  10. Hey all, Hope everyone is doing well I finished with my 1st trimester of LPN training. I am starting my 2nd tri. My instructor informed me today that I made the honor society. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me more about this. what is involved etc. I see there is a membership fee and meetings to go to. Is the purpose of this basically just to look good on a resume, (if I actually pass the course) Also we are starting nutrition, pharm, and med-surg this semester. Instructor says we will fly thru pharm and she will not be able to cover all the info we need for the tests, it will be alot of independant study. Some of my fellow classmates tell me nutrition is a toughy. Just wondering what to expect. Are they extremely difficult. They keep telling us this trimester will be our toughest. I thought the 1st one was VERY difficult!!! Thanks for any information Michelle
  11. Hey guys, Well I was worried for absolutely nothing, It was SO easy. I had someone right with me all the time. I actually cant wait untill tommorrow. You are so right rnkitty, I need to learn all I can now. I already ask my instructor to put me on a different floor tommorrow so I can hopefully do some of the things I didnt get to do today. Mostly it was giving baths, feeding, taking vitals, giving insulin shots and finger sticks. I hope you get to go to clinicals soon Lana, but I would love to be able to say I was ahead in my book work. I stuggle to keep up :) I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum, Sorry about that, but thanks for replying :) Michelle
  12. Thanks for replying, that helps me feel better :) Im sure I wont be the only nervous student! I keep telling myself after the 1st few clinicals I will be more relaxed and will probably enjoy it more than sitting in the classroom all day. My school doesnt have the dummy's to practice on and you cant practice on each other, or oranges anymore thats probably part of why Im so nervous. I will let you know how it goes Good luck in school :) Im glad I found this message board. LPN school is very stressful and it helps sharing with others who understand.
  13. Hello everyone, I started LPN school May 1st. Im am going to my first clinical tommorrow, and I am terrified. I am not a CNA, so basically this is all new to me. I just know that when I give someone a shot I will be shaking so hard, and putting in a cathater, Im just about to drive myself crazy worring. Did anyone else have this problem when starting clinicals? Thanks to anyone who could be me some information, or some words of encouragement!! Thanks SO much Michelle
