  1. Me-1/8th Pokagon band of Patowatomi Indians-from my mom
  2. I'm a quarter Patowatomi. It has always been something that has interested me and for some years I have wanted to know more about my heritage. A couple of weeks ago I went and visited my tribe and took part in the winter ceremonies. This was a very great experience and I learned so much that weekend. It was like the sacred part of our tribe was still alive and I knew and have always known that I have a place there. I told my brother about it and some of my family do care and some don't really care about that side of being an Indian. But I don't think that it makes them any less Indian. And a lot of what I heard was that some of the Indians think that when an Indian goes and gets and education and works outside of the tribal area that they have left the tribe. I myself don't think that this is really accurate because we live in a world where education can lead us forward and ensure our survival as human beings. To me its about embracing all parts of life. Being native American to me means that I can always return to those whom I share an ancestral heritage. So can all the other members. To me this heritage is important and should not die out. What this has to do with being a nursing student and a future nurse-I also think that some of thing things you can learn from cultural heritage you can take with you and apply it to your work.
  3. Hi Everyone, I'm planning on trasfering to the U of M Nursing program in the fall of 07'. I have been wondering about the housing over there. Another student that went there told me that the students that were in the nursing program (not all but a majority) lived in apartments right around the medical facility so that did not have to walk far to get to their nursing classes and so that they kind of lived in the same area together. Does anyone know anything about this? Does anyone know what area it actually is or what the apartment complexes are called and the cost? And also does anyone what date is a good time to expect to sign for an apartment. I'm just seeing ahead and it would be desirable to be with some companion nursing students. Yeah.. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!!!
  4. Yeah what really helped me with a Chemistry of Life class was seeing a tutor. I had not done any math in like 3-4 years and really I was ok. I was not the math for me that needed to be touched up to help me with the course, it was just getting a really good tutor and knowing it. This Tutor from India was a Jewel and was really smart she helped me fast and effectively and I ended up getting a life changing A. Good Luck! p.s. make sure if you get a tutor get a good one because I went to some others and they could not help me very much at all.
