  1. At our local walk-in clinic, the ma there does attempt to teach. She comes out with the printed instructions for medications prescribed by the MD, and goes over side effects, contraindications and such. Isn't that teaching? I thought, okay. I have asked questions and instead of getting a nurse, or MD, she answers! It is my belief that the MD's allow this to happen, and they do know it is happening, as they don't teach and there isn't an RN there to teach, so who is giving discharge instructions and answering questions, because of the almighty dollar.
  2. Is there any way you can attach a copy of your report sheet for OB/GYN patients?
  3. Does anyone have any idea what the GN pay would be for the Tampa area and do we also get shift/weekend diffs as well or straight hourly rate? Are they negotiable? I just wanted to know what to expect.
  4. DTK babymom, Can you send me a copy of your report sheet? I start on GYN in a few weeks and could use a heads-up. Thanks.
  5. I hardly ever post, but I had the image of a nurse standing over a tray of 4 truffles, razor blade in hand, dividing the goods for everyone. Too funny.
  6. My name is Kelly and I am starting the January class at PHCC in NPR. Maybe there are a few out there that have finished 1st class that could give a few hints to us newbies?
  7. I attend PHCC now and am submitting my application next week for Nursing/Spring. I have a 3.76 GPA in my prereqs, but totally did poorly on the net and you can only take that once a year. I have a 76 overall, 89 Math, but ran out of time on the Reading, 61. I have no idea if I will get in. My GPA is okay, but I ran out of time on the Peading portion. I was so confident because I really excell in reading and English. I was totally shocked when the test clicked off and I still had 8 questions left. Thank goodness the ones I answered were all right. I am taking A&P II in the fall, North campus. I usually go to East campus, closer to home. I have asked Ms. Medley what were the lower combo's of those accepted last year and she just said every class was different. I know this doesn't help. Are you applying for this Spring? Fall classes are closed for several years due to overcrowding and committments to those under the old acceptance process. Kelly;)
