  1. I would ask this question to the nurses on my unit but I've already asked them a million questions already, so maybe someone here can help me. When you give a medicine IVP do you usually dilute it in NS. I know morphine, phenergan, you should dilute but what about other drugs? I had to give Solumedrol 125mg/2ml IVP the other day and I didn't know if I had to dilute it but I just did anyway to be on the safe side.
  2. I'm a nurse intern and am uncertain about how to dilute meds. For example, if I have a 2 ml vial of a med and want to dilute it in 8 ml of NS, do I draw up the NS or the med first and do I have to inject air into the 2 ml vial(I thought I read somewhere that the med could splatter everywhere if you inject air)? If someone could please tell me step by step how they do this I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
  3. Thanks for the great advice! That helps decrease my anxiety a little.
  4. Hi! I'll be starting as a nurse intern on a med-surg floor and I know a lot of the patients are on tele monitors. Can anyone please tell me the location on the pt's chest where you would place the 5 leads? and how often do you have to change the stickers? Thanks!
  5. My preceptor gives me sets of questions to take home and turn in the next day. I simply am not sure of the answer to this one, so if any kind soul can help me out I will surely appreciate it. -Which is an incorrect order for insulin? a. 5 units Humulin R subq now b. 10 units Humulin R subq every AM c. 30 units Humulin N subq every AM d. 60 units Humulin R subq now I think it would be d, bc that seems like way too many units to give to a pt, am I right?
