thks for your help- looks like i'm done for- gonna spend the rest of my life working in a bankrupt trust for a poor salary and ever increasing workload- the US seemed like a good idea- it seems more like an impossible dream- no way of making up theory hours then- i'm DOOMED! sorry- i'm usually a happy soul take care- thks K.

sorry, it's me again- i'm getting more confused- my mate says you just succeed in the nclex exam (sounds hard enough in itself)- or, do i as it seems have to somehow make up hours in paediatrics, mental health etc, because if that's the case- i have no chance- as i work myelf into the ground already and have no spare time to do extra shifts on other units- plus i would have to work for free as my trust is way over budget and they do not allow overtime and are even making redundancies- jobs are starting to look a bit iffy here-working in the US seems to be the holy grail for many of my colleagues at the moment.

hello, i work in england and i have to routinely care for eight patients- i am assisted by a health care worker/auxillary- it is hell on earth and if it gets any worse i'll be having a spinal operation myself! with pre op and post op care, coupled with mad patients and family members i am beginning to wonder if i made the right choice- do you think it is mad everywhere? i want to work in the US at some point- but the nclex exam seems really difficult- anyway, take care and look after yourself

thks denise- weird and hard- it sounds grim- i'll keep hitting the study aids- thks for the literature recommendation- i see i will have no life for the next year- working on the unit by day studying by night- remind me why we do this? take care of yourself, have fun and don't work too hard

dear denise, firstly good luck with your exam- i wish you well. i recently qualified as an orthopaedic trauma nurse in england and i plan to move to the US- your nclex exam looks to be harder than our nursing studies- was it harder or easier than you thought? our training is supposed to be really good and rated as some of the best in the world- but to be honest i found it does not prepare a person for the role of a nurse in a busy unit like mine- do you have any advice regarding the nclex- i'm hitting the books on days off- there's no end to the studies!!! again- good luck and best wishes

you get past the spew and poo- you don't notice it- unless it's on you! yuk! my advice- get in a good group at college, share the workload, do your assignments early- using mostly journals- it takes the pressure off- accept that some placements are rubbish but take wot you can from them- but most of all- it's hard to balance assignments, money, homelife- GIVE time to yourself- have fun and at the end of each term, treat yourself for doing well and working hard- good luck matey

my only good bit of advice is- give time to yourself- the studies can be hard and balancing money isn't easy when you're used to having some- but you have take care of yourself- don't let the study and ward placements get to yer- have fun on good placements, get through the bad placements- and have a laugh along the way

hello, i am new to nursing and i am in need of some help and advice- so if anyone out there can help i'd appreciate it. i have one years experience in an ortho trauma unit in england- having completed a rn diploma- the hospital is losing nursing jobs and my original plan was to move to the US at some point- is anyone out there with experience of moving to the US, is the Nclex as hard as it looks? Is it a big step? basically- would you recommend moving?
