I am new to quality. I started in April of this year and have been mostly focusing on core, internal studies, ndnqi, mbqip, etc. I have been recently asked to take up sepsis with very little education on it so i'm reaching out to see how you all deal with the education part of sepsis. My director is wanting me to learn to severe sepsis and septic shock bundles and criteria, and abstracts, and then go and catch the physicians and have a "discussion " with them about it. To me this feels nonproductive. Should this not be presented as an educational opportunity for the physicians to participate in? Maybe like in a meeting or something somehwat formal? It may be that I'm new and I still don't quite understand my role in educating hospital staff on charting etc, but how do you all present your information to drive change?

Whats the best way to help during a code? I work on a 52 bed med surg floor and we get pretty complex patients sometimes. I've been in the room several times when a code or rapid response has been called, but it always seems like because I dont fight my way to the front I cant really help...and i'm just another body in the room. It's never been my patient (knock on wood) so I feel like I cant help, but I'm afraid if it ever was mine I would know what to do. Can anyone give me some ideas to go by so I feel less scared and more prepared for that situation?

no, i havent found out if i've been accepted into the nursing program yet, but i am accepted into the college. I will be moving to houston from indiana. I dont have any work experience here...unfortunately. No one around here is hiring, so im not quite sure what to to.

I am going to be going to San Jacinto College in the fall, and I was wanting a part time job as some kind of nurse aid. I want a job that could help me pay for college, but I havent started my nursing classes yet...so basically all I have is an A & P class under my belt. Is is possible I could get a job at a hospital with no experience yet, and if so what hospital and position should I apply for. Please help, cause I really want to be able to go to school in Houston and pay for my college. I just need to find a way to do it.
